No one is getting rid of their budget half way through the year... sometimes roads just need works doing.
Also pedantic maybe, but councillors don't actually have a budget as such to get rid of. They set the budgets for departments and a councillor will be in charge but the decisions are largely down to a head of department.0 -

Thanks
You could phone the council and ask them how long the roadworks are likely to go on for. They might even have details on their website or social media feeds.0 -
What's this got to do with 'Marriage, Relationships & Families'?0

Compensation culture
. People just cant bear a bit of inconvenience even when it is roadworks to actually make their own life better
It is like trying to claim compo because someone knocked your door to deliver you a parcelWith love, POSR

Do you have planning permission to use the building in your garden as an office? Why can't you work in the house whilst the roadworks are going on?0

The website https://roadworks.org lets you view current and planned roadworks on a map. Might be worth remembering in future.0

I work from home as a web developer and have an office at the end of the garden. For the past weeks there's been roadworks around the local area but yesterday they were right outside my house (and might be outside again today).
There was some kind of extraction lorry that was going from about 9am until 4pm non-stop that was so loud it was unbearable. I had to cancel a load of phonecalls with clients I had scheduled and in the end had to just stop work because I couldn't even hear myself think. Even with headphones on I could still hear (and feel it).
Now, I've technically lost a day of work so is there anyway to get some kind of compensation for this lost day's pay? If I had of received notice I could've made alternative plans / found somewhere else to work / rearranged calls etc but we heard nothing.
Any advice / help would be appreciated? It's only 7:40am at the moment but if this goes on again today that i'll be 2 days lost work and who knows how long it will go on for.
Thanks
I’m guessing your office at the bottom of your garden is some sort of prefab type of building, rather than house build construction?
If so I’m surprised you didn’t decamp to your house which would have had better noise insulation.0 -
The other day a post on the motoring forum asking if can have compensation for road works due de tour (removed now), I suspect it's the same person!0
