Many years ago, a few bright sparks hit on the idea of emailing the CEO directly, and got good results. Nowadays it's become so common that I doubt anyone of any importance gets to see it before it's redirected to the place it should have gone to in the first place.

I personally received a phone call from the ceo’s personal mobile number of a major utility company within thirty minutes of my email after there mess up and waiting two weeks got me nowhere with customers services.

That I appreciate would be extremely rare but goes to show they do get read, and usually at least get forwarded to a senior complaints handler. That’s in my personal experience.

That said the few times I have sent emails to the ceo I have had good reasons too.

Major utility company or bank. If I'm not happy, I walk.
