The more you use a disk, the less efficient a defrag becomes, even if you run it on a daily basis, especially when you have small files that occupy more space than they need to.^^ Shouldnt be an issue with windows 7 onwards as scheduled defrags are default behaviour
That being said, SSD drives do not normally require defragging at all.0 -
A relatives laptop suffered with the same symptom, only worse. It turned out there were three separate security programs running disk scans at start-up. Reducing this down to one sped things up considerably as youd expect0
