This does worry me Coupon-mad, but attending the hearing is just not an option. I figured hearing it on papers was better than just paying up.

I've done the best I can with the WS and SA and will just cross my fingers that it is enough to convince the judge. Whatever the outcome, I am most grateful to everyone who took the time to give me feedback and advice. Without it I wouldn't have bothered giving it a shot!

I would not worry too much about the fact that you are not attending. After preparing for an oral hearing and turning up at court my case was rescheduled and probably won't be heard for at least another three months. The other case that was being heard that afternoon had been rescheduled three times already. Courts seem very busy at the moment and they are booking hearings on the basis that some will settle beforehand.

Claimants are a South Yorkshire company so hopefully the judge will be familiar with their practices. Good luck.

  • How did you get on with the court case?
  • Hi PrettyKittyKat. I still haven't heard the outcome so i'm not even certain that the case was heard.

I've just got out of hospital so it hasn't been on my radar to chase it up but i'll ring when I get a chance and update you all.

I recently received £100 compensation from The Court Service because of their failure to submit papers in time. It pays to complain.
You never know how far you can go until you go too far.
  • Really? How will I know if that happened? I just assumed the case was either heard and I would hear the outcome within a couple of weeks, or if was postponed and I would be sent another date., which we may or may not have attended.

I think that there is a wait time before they reschedule. I rang up after 14 days and was told that my file was in the system and likely to be dealt with in the next few days. I have now received another date which is in another couple of months time. The PPC's must be trying to push as many of these cases through before the new CoP. Whilst this will not apply to old cases it may have some influence on the decisions.

Is it typical for cases to be rescheduled at the moment? We have our case on 11th April and my husband is taking the day off work to go, which means a days lost earnings. We won't be impressed if it's then rescheduled... wonder whether we should try for it to be heard in our absence but concerned that will mean we loose!

Not the norm, but it will depend on which court (we don’t have or keep records), but I think there are some courts that are consolidating to one main court as cuts bite. Clerkenwell comes to mind in particular, but there may be others too.

    Which is your court?

I’m not doubting your response, but often in private parking cases many posters confuse Northampton County Court Bulk Centre (from where the court papers emanate) with Nottingham County Court.

Is Nottingham your actual nearest county court?

Sorry to ask this, but too many posters have confused Northampton with Nottingham - so worth a quick check with you.
