Old Style Daily Monday 10th September 2018

Options
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

  • Morning everyone

We had a lovely family afternoon at my sister in law’s brothers’ house. My niece and her boyfriend and my nephew came along as well. She did a traditional afternoon tea of sandwiches/savouries and cakes with scones jam and cream, so I was very happy. It is nice when the extended family gets together like this. We only manage it about once a year.

I seem to have got a busy week with appointments this week. I have something on every day. The Friday one is lunch out with a friend though, so something to look forward to at the end of the week :). I had wanted to go to a larger town to get a few things I saw when I was last there. It will have to be Tuesday if at all this week.

I need to go shopping this morning, I ran out of bread yesterday and the milk doesn’t look like it will last much longer.

I hope that no one wakes you up early today Nelski.

It is good to hear that your mum is doing so well Gers.

Thoughts with the TA family as always.

    Have a good Monday everyone.
  • Good morning and thank you for starting today's thread Hollyharvey.

I have had a lovely weekend away, it is always good to see friends who aren't local as although we are in regular contact, time together is rare.
I got back mid evening and was so tired after the journey - crossing London between stations isn't difficult but it is tiring especially with luggage.

I don't have much planned this week and am thankful for that, my get up and go has got up and gone.
I've had a quick look back over the weekend posts and see that we have a couple of new posters to welcome.

    Thinking about the TA family.

I hope that everyone has as good a day as possible.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

    Morning,

Glad you had a good weekend away ancientofdays

I am awake early today. I have lots of phone calls to make before I go to work, so I shall be ready to start phoning from 9am.

OH dismantled a bunk bed as we still need to move a single bed from my Dm's to our house so we can have more storage space. Also only need an adult bed in the single room now anyway.

    Have a good day

    Good morning everyone :hello:
Steve has just left for work so I thought I would quickly pop on before I go and get dressed. Today is the day I start home schooling Lee so it feels like the first day of term for the pair of us. He has promised to get himself out of bed bright and early so it shows commitment. Lee also wants to lose some weight as he has put on a lot due to the heavy medication he is on. We are going to count calories together and as part of the curriculum will be studying nutrition. God bless the internet!

My friend is hopefully going to be coming to see me today providing her son drops her off. Unfortunately she was in a bad car accident last week where her car was written off and her family will not replace it due to her illness (bipolar). As she lives out in the sticks, she will be relying on lifts from her son and he works full time so I won't get to see her as much. There is a bus service twice a day but I can't go on it as my agrophobia has kicked in a lot especially since my lovely cmht lady has left.

I will take out some chicken breasts for Lee and myself for dinner but I am not sure what to feed everyone else. I will get Lee to have a look in the outside freezer and choose something suitable. There is also some leftover chilli if one of them wants that.

Right, I am off to go and get washed and dressed. Lilly will be hogging the bathroom in a minute to get herself ready for college so I will have to stir my stumps. Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx
  • Morning All

Wet and windy here this morning, very miserable for a Monday morning.

I had a good weekend but it was lots of travelling, DS1 did all the driving and we had a great time catching up with people we haven't seen for ages. I think DS1 was a little embarrassed at first as he hasn't seen anyone for about 8 years but they were all very kind and understanding.

DD started with a cold whilst we were on our way and seeing as I had to share a bed with her I'm sure I'll be next. The household we were staying in had been suffering from a sickness bug too so may have that to look forward to as well!

Hope all's well in your world, glad you had a good weekend AOD and hope Speky has enjoyed his too.

    Take care. XX

    Morning everyone

hollyharvey - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Cloudy and overcast start to the day here, but dry underfoot.

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.

Lunch yesterday was roast pork, roasties, mash, carrots, spring greens, swede, broc, peas, yorkshires and gravy, ice cream/yogurt/fruit for those that had room. Tonight we'll be having gammon, egg, chips/jacket potato and peas.

Back to work today, wasn't too busy on Saturday, so have no idea what today will bring, but some reminders etc have gone out and any mail outs also create people visiting/phoning - so we'll see. Hoping to be busy as the day just flies and we have 2 colleagues on annual leave this week, busy week ahead I think.

We haven't done much this weekend, just chilled Saturday afternoon after work, Sunday morning the boys visited both sets of grandparents and we stayed home, I had a lie-in, quite unusual for me, I didn't wake up until nearly 8am, then prepped and cooked the lunch, organised pack ups etc. TV and surfing the net in the afternoon. Very lazy. We're both ready for our holiday.

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning folks.

There was a wild and noisy weather band which raged all night here, I hope it's not going to be like that all autumn / winter.

Real work starts today so I'm up and ready. I'm happy that I've got some face to face students this year, I found things weird last year when only doing VC stuff.

I'm sending out good vibes to everyone. Happy Monday.

    Morning all

Dull and overcast here today and it seems an awful lot cooler this morning my feet were freezing when I got out of bed.

The gammon yesterday was nice but I only realised half way through cooking that it was smoked, I am not keen on smoked things at all but it was ok and nice and tasty, there is some left for tonight which I will do with some chips and peas.

DD is off to Rome for four nights today and my sister off to France for 10 days, I hope its a bit warmer for them both.

I seem to have lost the ability to return on this thread to create a gap between paragraphs, hopefully it will put itself right as its really annoying.
(that's strange it seems to have posted ok )
We cleared a lot in the garden yesterday there is still a bit to do but it looks much better already, we cut a jasmin which had got really out of control right back so that looks much neater.

Right best get on have good days all xx
  • Good morning all

Thank you for starting us off Holly

My thoughts are with the TA's

Lovely warm day yesterday, we had a squirrel in the garden, we watched it for about 20 minutes before it went into the trees.

Today the plan is to get into the garden, need to cut back some plants so it looks neat and cut the lawn.

Hope you all have a good day

    Morning :)

Bit grey this morning but least its dry. Enjoyed a pretty lazy day yesterday but did manage to declutter the planner quite nicely. No real housework done though so the lounge looks like I had a break in last night :o Have quite a bit of work to do today so will have a tidy before I start.

Lamb koftas successfully snaffled last night with a big feta cheese salad... gorgeous.
Tonight I could do with eating more of the salad as I seem to have a glut in the fridge fit for a family of ten again. I do wish this family would show themselves then i could clear the edible clutter

AOD glad you had a good weekend
Gers will you be off on any ferry trips this term? I remember the amazing commuting to work pictures you used to put up:)

Have a great day all and usual love to TA
