Congratulations, gigglinggoat and Vixstar on SOTW. Thanks again for chart, Chris.

Beanie, laugh as much as you like, it's good for you! I have to confess, maman, that MUCH chocolate was consumed, resulting in a half pound gain. Double whammy! And today DH and I had a very indulgent afternoon tea (gift to him for ‘grandpa’s day’.) And it is cold and wet and miserable here - just like my mood on Saturday. I hope the Scotland match is better tonight or ….

I’ll jump into the new challenge please, Chris (thanks for the new chart). I’m a bit out of kilter just now (don’t know why), so not at all confident. Also I have quite few outings already planned. However, even if I lose a teeny tiny amount, it’ll be better than not having lost at all. So, starting now, this minute, I’m going for an unambitious 4lb. I just do not want to fail again – it’s bad enough with the Bairns right now.

    Onwards and downwards!

Trip to Penzance was great. Cornwall is a wonderful place and the people are incredibly friendly. Consumed a lot of bad food though, so I've decided not to weigh myself for a few days while I try to undo the damage. I don't know whether to go to group tomorrow, I've not been feeling well the last 2 days, so if I'm not feeling better, I might give it a miss and weigh-in Thursday.

I failed miserably in my previous challenge, so I'm going to be more realistic with this one. I don't think I have a chance of making target before Halloween, but if I can be half way there (from here I mean), that would be lovely. Going on my previously logged weight, I was a stone away from target, so if I've lost 7 pounds by Halloween, I'll be really happy. Very much possible as well considering the time frame.

Anything more and of course, I'll be over the moon but as a side project, I'm also eating out the cupboards, freezer and other places where food seems to be hidden in my house. My aim is to spend as little as possible on food for the next month or so, and try and empty my house before Christmas, so I can effectively start again for 2019 (how fast has this year gone already, talking about bloody 2019??!!). This might involve me moving my syns around a bit and perhaps a bit of calorie counting as well, just to ensure I continue to lose and maintain a positive outlook.

I won't lie though, at this point I'm getting more and more concerned about my skin :( I've taken collagen etc, and applied various lotions, albeit not consistently but it doesn't appear to be tightening up at all. If it is, I'm not seeing it. Surgery isn't for me though, so might just have to live with it. Maybe that extra stone will be enough to pull it in. I have heard though that some saggy skin is simply to do with the amount of fat cells (as opposed to weight) your body has and once you have them, they can reduce in size but they'll never leave on their own and the only thing you can do is have something like CoolSculpting (Basically, they freeze them and they die) which is both expensive and not really what I'm after either :(

Fair to say I took my body for granted for many years :(:( If I ever have children, I won't be letting them make the same mistakes. I'll be teaching them early to eat and live healthily.

    Edit:
In other news..... for the first time in a long time, I was called scrawny the other day :D I'm not sure if that's a compliment or not.... still I'm obese according to the BMI scale, and when I'm at target I'll still be overweight and even scrawnier :)

You're right Stoke about the number of fat cells. There's nothing you can do to reduce the number of cells just reduce the fat content in them.

Men are luckier than women in that respect as they have less fat cells overall!

Good luck whenever you decude to go to WI. I've got about another 10 days holiday but it will be at least a week after that before I go back to WI!

Thanks Denise. Yes, I was reading about this fat cells thing. Apparently as you gain weight, they multiply. To use the analogy provided, as you gain weight, you gain more fat cells and they are like ruck sacks, and fill up the ruck sacks with fat and then, when you lose the weight the ruck sack empties but you are still left with the empty bag at the end of it. There is no way to lose the empty bags unless you go for surgery or CoolSculpting :(

I'm not keen on either of those two options tbh. I certainly won't be having surgery. 100% that is not happening. CoolSculpting is non-invasive so is a little bit more tempting, but it's £1200 for about 2 sessions and it's an actual weight loss method in its own right.... so this for me is conflicting because SW is my weight loss method, this is purely about removing fat cells to pull in my skin :( If I do go for CoolSculpting, it'll feel like a cheat.... so I think I just need to be happy with what life has dealt me on this one.

I don't know, maybe I need to stop overthinking and wait until I get to target.
  • Thanks for new chart Chris & well done Sunflower on SOTW.

Had a phone yesterday from a friend who needed cheering up, she suggested we go out for dinner. Well, this wasn't in my planning for the day. Met up at the usual car park (loads of restaurants near it so we meet & decide where to eat) so I was waiting thinking, "I really want to go to this particular one as it is SW friendly" and panicking, imagine my joy when she said we should go there :j:j Had a lovely meal, although I was naughty & had hummous as a starter, main course for me was melt in your mouth lamb/chicken combo shish with rice, so it worked out well for me, and all the lights were green when I was driving home:D

Made overnight oats when I got home, but for some reason, this morning, managed to leave them in the fridge but take out the salad for lunch:eek: Thank goodness there is lots of fruit &b yoghurt in the fridge at work, at least I avoided the temptation of walking up the road to buy something dangerous!

Got to go to the dentist later, hope my start to the day is not indicative of what happens at the dentist, already know it is a 45 min session:o

Dinner tonight will be chicken, cooked with onion, garlic, tomatoes, creme fraiche & Philly cheese, so not a great deal of syns involved:T

How do you make overnight oats? I hear them mentioned almost every week at group and yet I've never made them. Are they nice ? Are they like porridge ?

Personally I don't like overnight oats. Easy to make, just layer HEB porridge oats, fat free yoghurt and fruit. Leave in fridge overnight and then stir before eating. Frozen fruit seems to work best as there are more juices. I find them very claggy.

I much prefer baked oats. Mix HEB porridge oats, fat free yoghurt, an egg plus a little sweetner. Pour into a baking dish, or you can cook as 2 or 3 muffins. Cook for about 20 minutes at 200 degrees. Turn round and cook for about another 10 minues or so.

I always serve with quark and fruit, although DH prefers more plain yoghurt.
