Can I ask - would I be able to hook this up to record off my Virgin Media box???

Hi,

Must say, I have spent a good few hours this weekend setting up this box, downloading the firmware working out the features, and I must say that it is indeed feature packed.

I guess with Tesco and the likes reducing the price it won't be long before John Lewis price match them, and reduce their price also. Then if you are able to use the £20 discount online Telegraph voucher you wil be quids in!

That said, with regret I'm sending the box back to John Lewis. While the features work well, the picture I get with my 42" plasma screen is very poor. eg watching the football on BBC 1 this morning, all the players seemed to have a halo/blur around them. However when I turned back to the TV freeview tuner, the picture is fine. New quality SCSI cables etc made no difference. I guess the real issue is the transmitter at Hannington

Went into John Lewis this morning, and with a great bit of upselling, I was told that although the tuner is ok, it is not the best and I would need to go for Humax, or Topfield to improve the quality. Twice the Price!

Anyone else have the same issue?

No you can only record from the inbuilt twin Freeview tuner

Thanks for confirming. Not much use to me if it's only Freeview channels I can record.

You could "record" from your Top Up TV or Setanta if you subscribe to them (although Top UP TV is already downloaded and stored overnight) apparently if you stop subscribing to TUTV any TUTV content on your hard drive apparently stops being accessible.

Even if their website did (and I don't think they do), it's surely far easier/quicker to input a few digits into a box on the checkout page than ringing/emailing to ask them to price match Tesco...isn't it?
