Parking fine... probably going to Court

I've been through the Newbie stuff and also googled this but I cant find anything similar to what my issues are and I wondered if anyone can help.

About a year ago I attended a conference at a football stadium. I received a map from the organisers detailing the 10 nearest car parks. It noted that as a delegate at the conference I could park for free at five of these, one of these being Whitmore Street Car Park. So off I go and park there and display my permit.

A month later I received a letter from the Car Park stating I owe them £60. It turns out I unknowingly parked on the adjoining Upper Whitmore Street Car Park.

As per instructions on MSE I have ignored numerous letters after it was passed from debt recovery company to debt recovery company. However, I have now recieved the dreaded letter from BW Legal stating they will be taking me to court along with all sorts of enclosures.

I do intend to defend the case. Do i have a defence in the circumstances stated above or should I stick with the template letters that can be found online.

Am I correct to understand that I did not enter a contract with the parking firm as I believed I was permitted to park for free or is that wishful thinking?

Parking in the wrong car park isn't a defence.

What instructions? If you had read the sticky on the parking forum then you'll find this is exactly the thing they don't recommend.

Asking this, it is quire clear you did not read the Newbies Sticky!

Please get this thread moved to the right forum and start again by reading the Newbies Sticky properly.
  • I'm sure you see these threads every day, however, this is new to me and I'm trying to get my head around it.

You will see that this is my first and only thread. I have no idea how to move it, I simply came here for help.

They are phoning me every day asking me for money and obviously it's stressful. I have made an offer to pay £60 just to get them off my back, however, they rejected this.

If someone could provide me with a link to a response letter informing them that I will be contesting the fine I would be very grateful.

You parked in the wrong car park.
You have posted in the wrong part of the forum.
You have missed the link in post #4.
Maybe you should inform the DVLA about your sight issues?
  • But you haven't been fined...... Who told you, You have been fined?

To be fair you've gone the wrong way about it. You've made such a big mistake offering to give someone money for nothing as well.

There's been plenty of good advice posted in this thread, so I don't need to tell you again. I trust you've took this advice on board and have acted against this request for money?
