Personally I think the manual foot-pump type are better, I've had electric ones but they don't seem to last very long given how little use they get, the manual one seem to last better. Also, the cables can be a pain - unreel it, take it out one door to do one side, unplug it and move it around to do both side, tidy it all back away.
It's quicker and easier to use the foot pump.0 -
Don't know about that but they also recommend using a metal tyre valve but most tyre companies/cowboys don't bother!0

Agree with this, it is easy and quick to use a footpump and saves the hassle of driving to the garage or plugging in a battery one0 -

Many years ago when I was a teenager I worked in a petrol station. This was long before the days of self service so, as well as dispensing petrol, I topped up oil, cleaned windscreens and checked tyres etc.
One day a man came in on a scooter and asked me to pump up his tyres to 80 (I can't remember the units, probably psi).
I was merrily pumping the front tyre up when he asked me why it was taking so long. I said it was well below 80 and would take a bit longer.
He shouted 'I said 18 not 80 you idiot'. :eek: :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -

Two of my home compressors can, with room to spare.0 -
Thats RAC635 is not utter junk. Purchased one after reading the autoexpress review. First one had a faulty display and selection buttons.
2nd one had a faulty release valve, connect it to the tyre and the tyre lost pressure, unless you powered it on and then screwed it onto the tyre.
3rd one stopped inflating at 31psi, no matter what pressure you selected. Select 28, it went upto 31, select 34 it stopped at 31.
Gave up on the idea at that point.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Yes, used to have one of those manual gauges and a footpump but they both broke. Mind you, they were originally my Dad's and probably bought in the early 1970s.0

Mine was about £12 from Halfords. I used it repeatedly on my Nissan Almera. Well, sometimes. About as often as I changed the oil.0
