This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone
I’ve just had an emergency phone call from my neighbour. She could hear an alarm going off, but the light on her smoke detector wasn’t flashing so she had been wandering around the house looking for where the noise was coming from. It turns out it is a car parked opposite. They will have a surprise when they come back for their car later this morning and the battery is flat.
I’ve got a load to go in the washing machine later, and some light housework to do this morning, but other than that not much planned for today. I will spend this afternoon watching some things I have got recorded and reading.
I will go out and get a few things I will need from the supermarket this morning, and I want to do some more batch cooking for the freezer over the weekend if I’m in the mood.
AOD and Camelot enjoy your weekend away.
Nelski enjoy your trip to James Martin’s house if you decide to visit this morning.

Morning everyone
hollyharvey - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH and myself enjoying first peaceful cuppas, although I'm showered, dressed and just finished my brekkie as I'm working this morning. DS1 has already gone into work also. DS2 is still in his pit, will wake him shortly.
Dinner last night was the sausages, mash, veg and gravy that I swapped for Thursday nights' meal. Not sure what we're having tonight but probably be pizza, breaded chicken portions, salad, pickles, boiled egg, stuffed jacket potatoes, maybe some stuffed peppers - plenty to chose from so we won't starve.
Yesterday, I was reasonably productive, I got the ironing done and more washing line dried, folded and put away. I have a wash load to hang out, forecast is not great for later so will hang it out and hope for the best.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning everyone :hello:
It's a nice morning here but with a slight nip in the air. I slept a bit better last night but still woke up very early. I've left Steve fast asleep in bed as he didn't come upstairs until the wee small hours as he was playing a computer game on his new super-duper fast computer.
I have nothing much planned for today apart from getting some shopping delivered this morning. I had a busy day yesterday with my eldest daughter visiting and then when she had left, my youngest sister popped in with the little girl she looks after. She is only just 1 year old and I had forgotten how 'busy' little ones are . I also found out how my living room is not child proof. The dogs were very well behaved though and didn't seem to mind her petting them.
I am going to make chilli beef nachos for dinner tonight. I've bought all the bits to make them really tasty so hopefully that will go down well. I just need to grate the cheese and cook the chilli.
Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Morning All
Just waiting for the parcel office to open at 7 to collect my new seat covers, hope they fit better than the spare wheel!
DS1 coming about 8 then we'll pick DD up and head south, should be there about 2pm. Looking forward to seeing everyone, I think some folks I haven't seen for years will be visiting too.
My thoughts are with the poorlies and carers, hope today is good to all. Take care. XX0 -
Good morning all

Morning campers
Woke up tired this morning don't think I slept well at all but then the work session didn't end till 11 in the end so that was whizzing round my head for hours I would love a brain switch off button.
Yesterday went OKish with banana gazing but even better I need to thank Gers for her idea of sitting in the cafe whilst she gazes to her hearts content. I put this too her over lunch and she pulled a few faces as she likes everything to be done for her but couldn't really argue. If this works Gers I will be forever in your debtwatch this space next week. I also had Lainey with me in Morrisons saying breathe....I love you lot
Holly yes I will be round to James' later he gets upset if I miss it
2 loads of washing to do today and no chance of outdoor hanging. Also need to do a belated big Friday tidy and have a shop arriving at 1. Other than that I feel I need a feet up day although that may be tomorrow. Call with my age uk friend this morning which I enjoy.
Food wise I think I fancy lamb koftas and I know I have some I prepared last time in the freezer so Ill have those with wraps or pitta and a huge pile of feta salad.
Right onwards I guess have a good day all and TA thinking about you.0 -
Good Morning chums, this week seems to have flown by, or perhaps its just my age , but we are three quarters almost of the way through this year already !!.Shops are getting their Christmas stuff in which I really hate as the summer has barely finished.
I am off to eldest DDs house for dinner tonight as she has her ma-in-law Margaret down from London for the weekend so margaret and I will natter and have a good catch-upNo doubt will see DGD Holly and her fincee Tom as well if they are around. Both of my granddaughters have a Tom in their lives as my eldest DGD 's husband is called Tom as well .Must have been a popular name
:)
I shall make a victoria sponge later to take with me tonight as a small offering I know everyone likes a slice of that .
We have booked our caravan for April on the IoW already and also our next years holiday house, as we have to book a large one to accommodate the family plus the two little dogs we alsway have to book early.
Right time for a cuppa I hope everyone has a good weekend and you behave yourself with Mr Martin Nelski you wanton hussy:):)
Love 'n'stuff to everyone, and hugs to those who are in need of one

Morning everyone,
Well today is the first day that the H word has been mentioned, yes heating, it’s realky quite cold in the house this morning but we are trying to hold out until October at least. We had an oil delivery yesterday and it needs to last right through to next spring!
Not masses planned for today, all chores were done yesterday which included picking up a big bag of bird feed and peanuts. I had a look at winter bedding plants but will pop to the nursery as well to compare prices.
Have taken some sausages out of the freezer so they will make an easy tea.
Glad the shopping trip wasn’t too fraught Nelski good idea of Gers to sit in the cafe and let the browsing go on without you, enjoy James!
Enjoy your trip and family catch up Camelot
As always thoughts are with TA and her family.
Have a good day folks x0 -
Hi all, horrible grey day here. Steve has gone golfing with Chris but a bit further north-east so I hope the rain hasn't reached them yet.
I'm having a bit of trouble with my hands because my plastic allergy has flared up again, worse than the last time. It's not all types of plastic but if I react I only need a few seconds of touching before I come out in a red, itchy rash.
I finished the second Hungry Caterpillar quilt, I'll try to post a photo of them but not till Monday because it was Speky who asked about them and hopefully he'll be too busy in London this w/e to look a the thread.
I started cutting the fabric for another quilt so that I can take it to Yorkshire to sew. I'm still not sure if we are going yet, we don't want to miss the appointment for Steve's biopsy and it hasn't come through yet.0 -
Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one. especially the TA's.
Well the back problem is sciatica, I have steroids, 3 a day for a week. Also medication to protect my stomach.
OH has been washed and dressed, just walked up the garden to look at his weather station. Its blooming cold. I lit the fire yesterday and have relaid it this morning, will light it when OH gets up after his siesta. I am trying to use up the coal so I can get the chimney swept and an electric fire in the hearth. Its very dull as well. OH tells me that its going to rain, glad I did the laundry yesterday.
Chicken, ham and leek casserole for supper tonight........we did not have the banana yesterday so will have it tonight.
On the last lap sewing the binding on the quilt, will then press it before its parcelled up.0
