Hide any QR code in letters you post

I know most people like to stay anoymous on the forums but if you don't hide the QR codes on the letters you post you can give a lot of info out, not least your post code.

If you use a QR code reader on your phone to scan them it seems like a lot of nonsense, it isn't, it directly identifies you to the parking company and gives the whole internet your post code.

For anyone that doesn't know what a QR code is (Quick Response code) here is one I just made, install a QR code reader on your phone and scan it.

Sorry this makes absolutely no sense to me (and I do know what QR codes are).

Are you referring to letters we may write to PPCs? If so where do these codes appear and who puts them there? And unless I'm writing an anonymous poison pen letter:D then I'm going to give them my name, address, postcode etc. anyway.

But you also refer to remaining anonymous on this forum, so when you say letters do you mean ASCII/Unicode characters we type in our posts? Are you suggesting there is some secret embedded QR code in those that will 'out us'?

No, Ibcus is saying to hide a QR code if a newbie shows a letter from a PPC.

    Exactly this.

    In this thread: hhttps://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5532696/important-before-you-post-personal-info-in-posts

I explain how you could be identified by putting any identifiable personal info in threads, this includes when posting scans of correspondence from PPCs.

It is important to include any barcodes or QR codes in the list of things to redact before posting any such correspondence.
