Only damage might to be to the paintwork where the diesel ran down. No idea why you might think this would damage the engine.
All sorts of strange things go around on social media, like the recent Facebook posts about not filling your tank in very hot weather as it could cause an explosion. Some quite sensible people I know were sharing that one :wall:0
