If the selection on Autotrader within 100 miles is inadequate and you don't live in Shetland or the Western Isles then I think it's your requirements that are the issue, and looking elsewhere is not that likely to turn up anything more suitable.

Many car supermarkets also put vehicles on AutoTrader however you could try their own web sites directly....

https://www.thecarpeople.co.uk (I have bought a car from these people)
https://www.motorpoint.co.uk (friend just bought a car from these people)
    https://www.fow.co.uk
    https://www.motorrange.co.uk
https://www.hplmotors.co.uk (I have bought a car from these people)

There will be people with both good and bad experiences of all of the above. They may or may not be within travelling distance though.

    Hope this helps.

You have to be wary of the local listings for big companies like motorpoint as they will list something as being at their local depot, but it will actually be at another branch and you will have to pay a deposit to see/demo the car

    That is how it works.
You describe it as "faultless" "showroom condition" etc.
They come and look, and if it doesn't exactly match your description they don't have to buy it.

Mike Brewer did it all the time on Wheeler Dealers, but he always bought the car.

I am quite sure we didn't use those kind of terms when describing a 5 year old car!

The coast is a big place, if you indicate where on the coast we might be able to suggest some options for you.
  • OP, maybe mention it to the garage you use for servicing/maintenance, especially if it is a decent local place. They are bound to get cars in/out on occasion that are to be sold, and if it's one they have looked after, it should give some peace of mind (if the garage is any good).
