Looking for a replacement car - sources other than Autotrader?

The OH's car was written off due to a third party's negligent parking so we are looking for a replacement with the insurance money plus using some savings.
The selection currently advertised on Autotrader, even if prepared to travel up to 100 miles, isn't particularly great.
Is there anywhere else we could be looking?
The amount we would be looking to spend would be £3-4k..

Many car supermarkets also put vehicles on AutoTrader however you could try their own web sites directly....
https://www.thecarpeople.co.uk (I have bought a car from these people)
https://www.motorpoint.co.uk (friend just bought a car from these people)
https://www.fow.co.uk
https://www.motorrange.co.uk
https://www.hplmotors.co.uk (I have bought a car from these people)
There will be people with both good and bad experiences of all of the above. They may or may not be within travelling distance though.
Hope this helps.0 -
Thanks, will have a look.0

ebay's pretty good.0

We've had a few from ebay over the past few years, but have been willing to travel.
We identify what we're looking for, then search for that make and model countrywide.
Might be worth finding garages locally and go around them. Not everything makes it onto the internet.0 -
We sold a car via eBay about ten years back, nobody showed any interest in viewing it before the auction ended, presumably they though after they were committed to buying it was the time for a test drive, etc...0

That is how it works.
You describe it as "faultless" "showroom condition" etc.
They come and look, and if it doesn't exactly match your description they don't have to buy it.
Mike Brewer did it all the time on Wheeler Dealers, but he always bought the car.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
(except air quality and Medical Science)

Or it was edited to show him never rejecting one.0
