All modern TV's have a Freeview tuner. A few additionally have a Freesat tuner as well. If yours is the former, you will need to buy a Freesat PVR to get Freesat (Humax or similar).

What is the difference between freeview and freesat? How do I find out if my tv is compatible?

Google can answer the questions for you.
  • Find out where the wires run back to, do the wires in the lounge run directly to the satelite dish? Do you have your own or a communal aerial?

There are alot of ways of setting up systems like this. If you are unable to follow wires back it might be worth speaking to a neighbour and see if they can give you any information particularly if you have communal aerials.

If your lounge has a 'return' point mounted on the wall faceplate you will need to feed a signal into this to get a signal in the bedroom.
  • Firstly, plug your TV into a coax output and try retuning your TV. If this does not work then:

Can you see an ordinary aerial on the building? Have you asked any of your neighbours if they use the coax sockets?

Have you bought the flat or rented?

If you have rented then you simply need to ask whoever deals with your problems about getting the TV input sorted.

Sounds to me like you have bought. Chances are there will be a distribution unit/units in a communal area that is locked to prevent casual access, probably in a riser. There is almost certainly some sort of management company that deals with the communal areas, you need to contact them and ask how you can get the aerial connected to your flat.
