O2 Upgrade Tarriff Complaint -where do I stand?
Hi all,
I used to be on:
O2 Online 35 Texter which gave:
- 600 minutes
- 1000 texts
- 1Mb GPRS
- O2 Longs weekends (free weekend calls to mobiles and landlines)
- Free Odeon Cinema tickets for a year worth £78.
- Inclusive minutes used for 08 numbers.
- 1 month rollover minutes
Because of the 08 number issue in September, I phoned up for an upgrade and asked whether my O2 numbers were going to be included and for how long.
They said that they were going to terminate them on the 1st October and so I could have a free upgrade or terminate my contract.
I asked what tarriff I would get if I upgraded and they said that it would be a new tariff but that I would lose the 08 inclusive numbers and I my O2 long weekends would not be restricted to 2000 minutes - that they'd be unlimited.
I knew that they wouldn't have the cinema promotion on so I'd lose out on that on the new tariff.
I asked about my O2 rollover minutes and the chap replies that all tariffs £35 and over always had 1 months rollover minutes.
So, I upgraded.
However, since then I have found that my rollover minutes for 1 month are no longer supported on my new tariff.
This is annoying because on my new contract, not only do I lose 08 numbers (inevitable), odeon cinema tickets (fair enough) but also my rollover minutes which means that for the same £35 I am worse off than my old tariff. If I lose my rollover minutes I'd have gone on a £35 tariff from Vodafone with StopTheClock and 1 months rollover.
I was annoyed and complained and the only thing they would do is give me an additional 200 minutes per month for 3 months. I would have liked to either be switched back onto my old tariff minus the 08 inclusiveness but they couldn't do that, or get a benefit that lasts the duration of the contract (e.g. an extra 100 minutes for 18 months or something).
Is there anything I can do? O2 won't budge and I am very disappointed at the moment.
Thanx
AMO

Sorry to hear that.
I had bad experience recently as I was sold a deal, which I have to pay the same rental, 100 mins less, and listen to this, I have to stay until the end of my contract. There were lots of confusions within O2 regarding simplicity deal and simplicity tariff. Any way, your situation is different but treatment from O2 was the same: we agreed to the deal so we have only ourself to blame. I do not think so!
What I did was to call them back use free no:5times. I love to talk though. Finally got nowhere and have to ask for the supervisor. Then got some improvements. Do not just give up if you do not feel right.
The bottom line is: they sold you a deal, which they claimed to be better than what you had before, but actually it was not. It was a mis-selling. By the way, have they explained all the "disadvantages" of the deal to you before you said yes? You had the right to cancel or at least complain to them and OfCOM.
Good luck and please share with us how you get on.0
