And make sure she knows a sign opposite never applies to the other side of the carriageway, if that was the mistake made. You do get some streets owned by 2 different Councils as it's a border, and there can be one location code on one side, and a different one/different Local Authority, with a machine just yards away opposite - wrong code.

She also needs to know that councils freeze the discount and re-offer it, if an appeal fails. So she did not have to rush to pay to save money!

The PCN says so, on the back.

  • What makes me really cross is that she paid before the final date due. Still we have all learned the hard way at some point in our lives.

Like I said, there wasn't a final due date for the discount as long as the appeal went in by day 14, they honour and re-offer it anyway when rejecting.

These are not something to rush to pay, but she will learn, as you say.

Not all councils reoffer teh discount. Most do, nbecause they reject all appeals (that sounds familiar!) and people then just pay up if they think they may lose a discount.
  • Well, she's not stupid and I'm passing on this information so that she's wiser next time. BTW do you think she has any chance of reclaiming the sum she had already paid? They acknowledge she paid it but said the location number was incorrect by one digit.
    I'll catch up tomorrow!
  • Youve been told, definitively, NO

Once paid there is no appeal.
  • I'm not referring to the fine they gave her but the amount she had already paid mistakenly, i.e. she gave a location number but didn't park there. What do you think of her chances of reclaiming that sum?
    I'll catch up tomorrow!
  • Absolutely none.
