Yes I have already located it, but according to this video @ 1 minute 19 seconds in there are 2 sensors, (this is for a Camry but aren't they the same setup?)
.
Yes there are 2. The main sensor that controls fuelling is the front one before the catalytic converter. The rear one only/mainly monitors emissions.0 -
If it will come out, it is a very easy job using a generic toyota type sensor for about £30, but they can seize absolutely solid in place, and then leave the threads behind, which needs garage tools to remove and clean up- not hard, but you won't have the tools, every chance if it has been there since 1995.
Best to get a quote from your friendly small garage, but they will likely want to check it again themselves, as if they change it and it is the same you won't like it, a genuine part is probably £200, so keep away from the dealers.
Worth doing if it is running well and not rusty.
I'm surprised it passes emissions without that sensor, they just run a default "best guess" program, it may do a little better to the gallon with a working sensor.
Can you point in the direction of a £30 part as the ones I am looking at are well over £60 and they do not seem to match to mine exactly, most are for Avensis, (will it be the same?).
Pictures of mine and details from the sensor, (flange is fixed, not threaded):
89463-20070, (PART NUMBER?).

I can't I'm afraid, that flange fitting is the problem. My Toyota was a screw in one, jammed solid as I said.
I'd get hold of a threaded flange (although they seem very dear on eBay for what they are) and a 4 wire universal sensor which is £23.99 for a 5 year guaranteed one myself, most likely I'd take a punt at eBay item 231347224040 if the plug is the same . If it doesn't work it adds £36.39 to the bill though, but at least it has a flange with it!
Otherwise you are going to have to pay over £60, check with the supplier that it will work in your car first, or just get a quote for supply & fit from the garage.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
