The Legal department of Driver Assist

Options
keeps calling me to tell me that I have been in a motor vehicle accident within the last 2 years that was not my fault.

Trouble is that I have not and when I can get a word in sideways through their scripted patter to ask which accident and when exactly it happened, they hang up on me.

I have managed to ask a number of times to get my number removed from their computer dialer (yes there is silence at the start of the call) but they point blank refuse to do so

Don't listen to them just hang up on them or lay the phone down somewhere and walk way. Leave them talking to nobody.

Ask them which accident. Then keep them talking and waste their time, until eventually you "remember" that you haven't had an accident after all. Sooner or later they take you off their list of numbers to call.

Why do you even answer the phone if it's from a number you don't recognise?

I always tell them about the accident and how I hope a couple of school children will pull through from the bus stop I hit whist I was twice over the limit.
I try to keep them on the line for as long as possible- I once got put through to a real life accident solicitor and continued my story of reckless driving until they hung up on me- fortunately they normally call when I am work so I really ham it up for the audience around me.

I see it as sport and they are my prey to hunt down.
  • Yes I have done all these things and more but still they keep calling back to the point of at least once a week :(

Keep quoting GDPR and asking what permission they have to contact you.

My wife's tactic was to say that she knew some unsavoury people who would sort the callers out. She knew where they were calling from and they would get some visits!

When the caller stated they would call the police and send them round to her she asked them to do it. They said that they were recording the call and she was making threats to the caller. The police have still not turned up but the calls have stopped.

Play along with them, see how long you can keep them on the phone. Worked for me.
