Amazon New Day Credit Card

Options
Hi,

Amazon are really good at promoting the advantage of using their Credit Card, they are not so good at highlighting it comes with £20 per month fee
Warning to others and reminder to self. Make sure you read ALL the small print in T&Cs. :money:

Would you care to highlight the relevant section?
  • Sounds like user error.

I am writing to let you know that your monthly payment of £20.00 will be taken by Direct Debit on 10/09/2018.

You do not need to take any action, other than to ensure that there are sufficient funds in your account to cover the payment.

You sure that is not your normal minimum (or set) payment.

Nowhere in the t and c's does it mention a monthly fee.
  • I've just gone through the T&Cs that came with my card (arrived today). I can't find any mention of a fee...

If you set up your direct debit online you are no longer allowed to enter 'minimum contractual payment' as an option. You are talking about the boosted minimum payments @ £20...Edit: or the 'payment requested' option @ £20... Either way, it is not a fee.

Have you bought anything from Amazon? The NewDay card is automatically used rather than any other.

I've had the NewDay card for three months and not been charged any fee. Can you point to where this fee is listed on the NewDay website please? Your email from NewDay is it's standard monthly one for what you've spent.
  • I'm actually on the phone making a complaint about the 'Payment Requested' option. Even though I rang up to set up 'contractual minimum payment', the online account manager is telling me I'm set up for 'Payment requested' and not 'contractual minimum payment' as requested.

  • Complaint upheld. They agree the wording is incorrect and needs to be changed. I didn't ask for any compensation, but they offered me £15 to reflect the time taken out of my day to report their error.
