Roaming in Cyprus
Why do mobile networks charge for roaming in Northern Cyprus?
Countries in the EU have inclusive roaming. The mast connected into the Turkish (ie outside EU) networks should be irrelevant.....when you are in Cyprus, you should have inclusive roaming....that's what the EU states.
Instead, they are charging about £30 a day for normal data usage.
Just gearing up to take them to small claims court. I can't see why I wouldn't win.
Thoughts?
Despite joining the EU as a de facto divided island, the whole of Cyprus is EU territory.

You missed out a subsequent sentence from the source of your quote:EU law is suspended in areas where the Cypriot government (Government of the Republic) does not exercise effective control.
Your phone has been connected to Turkish networks. Manual roaming selection would help avoid this in border areas.0 -
What if the UK mobile provider website says......
"Cyprus, pay monthly plans. You can now use your UK allowance anywhere in the EU just as you would at home"
It sounds like they are going one step better than the minimum EU requirements, doesn't it?illegitimi non carborundum0 -
The TNRC (Turkish Northern Republic of Cyprus) is NOT part of the EU.
It's not recognised by any nation apart from Turkey, so, it's part of Turkey.
What made you think it was part of the EU?

You'll be fine when/if Turkey joins the EU. In the meantime only connect to Cypriot networks.0 -
radio signals do not respect geographical boundaries.
before EU free roaming..............mobile users in Ireland/N.Ireland had day to day experience of local and foreign networks overlapping every mile of a typical border road
