As above but before doing the clutch check the actuation adjustment or bleed if hydraulic. Both very cheap and simple to do.0

No worries, it was a little bit tongue in cheek.
Most interested in what actually resolves it, so do keep us informed.

Thanks for all the help! On the advice given got my local Wilko Motor save (great local branch here) to put on ramp. They WD 40'd the 'bush' on the gear linkage.....problem solved! On a longish run if I was being anal it tightens about 5% but I'm splitting hairs.
Wilko said to pop it back mid November & they'll put a drop more WD40 on for me. 3 min job....mechanics wanted no money, obvs gave them some cash for a beer!
On another note...…my injectors/fuel system must have been FILTHY as just a £2 Wilko redex diesel. Leaner, I doubled up dose in full tank diesel + my usual bulk buy dose of cetane......24% fuel economy increase on short,1-3 mile journeys..... Result for a diesel with a map & EGR valve covered/turned off on ECU and disabled lambda sensor, remap for torque/MPG, 44 mpg I'm happy with!
So...…truly is a money saving community.....thanks all for helping!0 -
Would be better if they used some silicone grease on it rather than WD40 as WD40 is not a long term lubricant and can make matters worse as it thins out and removes any grease that should be there. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Will get that applied. My friend who is great with cars seems to think silicone grease will attract dirt/grit though?0
