Thanks Enthusiastic saver and Hugheskevi I do have a lot to think about. I will be maxing out this years isa allowance and putting the rest into a high interest savings account while I contemplate what to do. Hugheskevi, thanks for the list there were a couple of things on there I hadn't thought of so will take them on board - both Hubby and I are mid 40's so LISA is out, will be looking at other options.
I need to review my budgets and tweak some things in the meantime to take account of a slightly higher income due to pay rise. Although I still feel like I have less in my wages with everything being so expensive at the moment. I think I need to create more margin into what I save each month as that figure has been dwindling lately. I need to get my head back into it as I think the spendiness has been creeping back in over the last 18 months for some reason. It is payday on Thursday (we get paid every 4 weeks rather than every month) and I want to get back in the habit of living off 4 weeks pay for a calendar month so really there is another 10 days on my current bank balance of approx £150. I will likely need more petrol and a couple of other bits and bobs but going to see if I can get there with about £100 left to throw into savings (I already put £100 in there from this months wages at the start of the month as I 'pay myself first').
In other news I have an essay to write this weekend so other than a couple of nice walks with the pupper I will be tied to the computer. Also need to find time to get back on top of the housework - its a bomb site considering only 2 grown adults live here I'm embarrassed and its getting both OH and me down. there just doesn't seen to be enough hours in the day anymoreIf thou of fortune be bereft, and of thine earthly store hath left,Two loaves, Sell one and with the dole, buy hyacinths to feed the soul.
