  • Thanks Abba, plenty more will come up just have to keep applying, I really want to move to somewhere closer to home and cut down the commute time (this would also save me money on fuel!)

  • Just as I thought things were turning the corner and I would get by, the car is now making a strange noise when driving :(
OH thinks it is possibly something with the exhaust so it will have to go into the garage on Monday as I need the car to get to work and back. Hopefully won’t cost too much but I did have a little cry over it this afternoon. I think Christmas may well be cancelled

Hopefully it's something simple and inexpensive xx

  • Well it was something simple but definitely not inexpensive!
One of the wheel bearings had disintegrated and instead of being a simple replacement of the bearing, my car has them in sealed units linked to the ABS. Even my local garage had not seen a set up like that before!!
I am now £350 poorer but DOH has contributed £100 towards it so only £250 in real terms.
I have spent some time doing some serious number crunching and reckon I can still just about manage the service, MOT and Christmas but I will have no wiggle room at all.
Then, when I get paid for January (stupidly before Christmas...why do they do this? Just why?) I can start building pots back up while keeping everything crossed for a lack of calamities for a few months

  • Well service and MOT have been done with no further issues £155 spent on this.

Done some major reshuffling of my YNAB pots and can afford Christmas...just!

It will take 4 months to get everything back up to where it was but I am a little bit proud of myself I have been able to do this without credit (not that I have any choice on that anymore). If I can get back to where I was without further mishap I know this will work and I don’t ever want to be in the credit cycle again.

  • Well I have now officially started doing the Christmas shopping! I have bought the work secret Santa present for maximum £10, got a cocktail shaker set, four lagers and some candy canes for that. Got to love home bargains:D

This weekend has flown by, got a few jobs done such as renewed the NT membership ( Christmas present from my mum) changed my mobile phone contract to plusnet instead of O2 which will save me just short of £15 per month and down to £9.50 for my sim only which is great!
I just need to wait for the sim and for my number to switch over, fingers crossed it goes smoothly as I have had that number since the year dot and don’t want to have to start learning a new one!

Had hoped to sort through the MASSIVE clothes mountain the although clean still needs putting away but I just cannot be faffed at the moment, I did briefly get out in the garden today to put my terracotta pots into the cold frame to keep the worst of the winter off them, they are full of bulbs, some of which are just starting to poke their noses through the gravel. There are narcissus, iris, crocus and tulips all looking to put on a show in the spring and raise the spirits :j

Am off to make some hot chocolate and toast now as I just feel the need for some comfort food this evening, not sure why but I am happy to go along with it :rotfl:

    Merry debtbusting to all xx

  • Well most of Christmas shopping is done and within budget, just need to get vouchers from the garden centre for Mumsy and MIL plus a sherry and port gift set for FIL then Iam all done!
OH and I picked up the meat for Christmas dinner last night and that is now in the freezer, just need to get the veggies and a vegetarian main for MIL at the weekend and I can then relax!!

For the first year EVER my debt will not go up due to Christmas and I don’t feel like anyone is missing out or not getting enough.

Does anyone else feel like it is increasingly difficult to find suitable presents for people that won’t just end up in the bin? I have never been any good at thinking of gifts but it does feel like the general consensus ’out there’ seems to be as long as there is lots of stuff to open it doesn’t matter what it is!....soooo wasteful :( that is not happening in our house this year!
