Hi CB :) Great news that you've brought your debt free date a few months forward. I think a takeaway budget is a good idea then you won't feel like you're depriving yourselves totally.

Everything is looking really positive on your list. Hope you get the results you want. How many more years do you have at Uni. xx

Thanks tea, i have one more year left at uni, however i am qualified this year so can do teaching supply next year whilst working towards my masters. plan is to do at least 3 days supply a month to earn a bit extra to go towards paying down the debt quicker.

Hang on in there CB. It's definitely 'light at the end of the tunnel' time :) Great that you can do some supply next year as well. It's all sounding really positive. xx

    MAY ROUNDUP

well the chaos of uni is finally over for this year, a few months off before i go back in september to complete my masters degree. hopefully a chance to get my house organised and in to some sort of order. moneywise the next few months will be really tight. we did manage to put aside some money over the year to help with this but not really enough that will make up the shortfall of no student income for me. DH ups his hours during the summer months as he makes most of his money through the hols however we don't see the effect of that until July/August time. i am realistic that the debt will increase over this period but fingers crossed not as much as in previous years and the plan is to pay back the increase in septembers double student loan payments.

Hopefully a chance to raise some cash from car boot sales. I have been quite lucky with prolific the last few months making about 20 a month from it which has been sent to highest interest account. hopefully this month will be the same and even though we have the shortfall i will probably still pay it to this.

No hols planned for the family this year although i am away for a uni trip in august which is paid for and all food included so i don't need to worry about that apart from maybe 50 euros.

    short update this month:)

super proud of myself that for once i have made my application for student finance before the deadline to have it in place for start of course. i have also renewed tax credits and did DH tax return for last year. need to work out how much i need to put away each month to pay tax bill in january

    plans for rest of week.

    1. clear out cupboard with uni paperwork (lots isn't needed)
    2. clear kitchen baskets
    3. declutter bathroom

Hi CB :) Well done on completing another Uni year. :T I can fully understand you using the next few months to get on top of everything, but now that you're qualified is there any work in your profession you can pick up for the odd day here and there to help towards any shortfall?

Kitchens and bathrooms are a constant cycle of mess and tidying up aren't they :o But I always think they're the 2 rooms where you can see the most impact for your work.

DD recently submitted her finance application for next year and it's come through so thankfully that's sorted. I was dreading it, but it was much easier than the first time we did it as they've obviously got most of the information.

Make sure you get to enjoy some down time over the holidays. xx

hey tea, yeh i can pick up days now that i am qualified but not until september unfortunately. hubbys large wage in august will cover the shortfall retrospectively, its just getting through the initial period of being skint lol.

checked on my tax credit application and it has already been processed and award should be with me in a couple of weeks, always a bit of an uncertain time though as to will they go up or down, however i did over estimate DH's salary for that period so who knows what will happen.

Hoping that i get the chance to catch up on some diary reading too during this time, it has fell by the wayside apart from a check in every so often. hope all is well with you

  • JUNE/JULY/AUGUST ROUND UP

Wow it has been a while since i last checked in on here. Things have been really tough the last few months with ill health, school holidays and generally a lot of stress in my life.

Positives i reduced our debt out of the 20,000 mark and then again out of the 19,000 mark. woohooo i have reduced my debt by almost 15% and another month off the debt free date. my break away for uni trip was amazing and very much needed as there was a chance to recharge my batteries whilst also working. was very strange being away from the family and i missed them but it honestly was great and having a break away myself would be something that i would consider doing again.

negatives i added to our debt during the break from uni and student funding due to ill health mentioned earlier. i have kept this separate from my debt as double payment of student loan this month will pay that amount off, just means we need to tighten the belts for another month.

another few weeks off before heading back to uni so will be organising the house for when i am back in full time. will be back with my new 12 week plan later
