  • any company who employs staff working from their bedrooms, apart from !!!!!houses should be avoided especially when they only accept paypal and give delivery time just when the funds clear their bank account.
  • I'm not going to say 'I told you so'....no, I'm definitely not going to say that.
    For that would be churlish.

God what is it with some people!!!

Some people have been scammed out of thousands of pounds. Why, because they tried to save some money on laptops or tvs for their kids Christmas.

yeah lets all laugh at them. Nothing like kicking someone when they are down.

This must have been a well prepared scam.

They have been taking orders as far back as April this year (if not before) and would appear to have been supplying goods initially from other suppliers using the money which was coming in from buyers.

They built up a level of trust and got themselves 'featured' on bargain-hunter websites before gearing up to take a large number of orders, all for delivery in late November and then scarpered with the cash.

Paypal and Google have been duped as well - good luck in trying to get your money back from them - Paypal are almost as bad as scammers themselves after all!

So do you think it is worth trying to get your money from the credit card or try and get paypal.

I think Paypal you may have problems but I would pursue the credit card company and I gather from a post on here the other day even debits cards may be covered

I rang Barclaycard today, who said if I have received no goods, and my claim checks out, that the company has 'disappeared' I will get my money back, in fact she reassured me that I will not be out of pocket.
I did not bother going through Paypal, just went straight to my credit card company

I would set up a dispute with paypal anyway. When you cc company finds out the funds went through paypal they might ask why you did not set up a dispute with them.

I doubt anyone will have any sucess getting anything through paypal - they will only return your money if the vendor has got money in his account. And given how well he suckered us all, I'd reckon he will remember the important bit about moving his money to another account.

With debit cards I think it depends on who you are with, posts on geteven.biz suggest that Llyods seem to be very helpful and have said people will get a refund. The RBS (royal Bank of Scotland) have been less than helpful however .

Your bank (Smile) should be able to refund the amount back to you. Direct Debit is secure and the banks have some sort of arrangement with companies taking the money out.... so Smile should easily refund you, and hold off the payment to the merchant.
