Whoa, this is becoming very complicated.
I would strongly advise you to contact CAB and ask for a benefits check up.
They will be able to advise you about what you can claim and who to notify about your change of circumstances. You can also ask about claiming Carer's Allowance.0 -
Is the son you mentioned above the one the Council are now saying is a non-dependent?0

How is your daughter going to pay tuition fees for the course she is doing without a student loan? Unless you are in Scotland which you may well be.
And books, travel? Surely she could consider working some hours at the weekend?0 -

Well that would be things that i paid for, she has a student loan for the course. She is doing art which is extremely time intensive and has extra needs so i didnt want to put her under anymore pressure.0 -

If she already has a student loan then payment for that will go straight to the uni and she won't even see that. Depending on household income there should be money for her to help with the things she needs like books etc. You say she has extra needs, does she claim a disability benefit because of this?
As for your benefit entitlement did you contact your local CAB today to make an appointment for a full benefits check?0 -

If she has a student loan there should be one part for the fees, which goes straight to the university, and one part for maintenance, which is the money for her to live on. If she is taking out a loan for the fees, she may as well take the maintenance as well, because it won't make any difference to the amount she will pay each month when she starts working (and, as things stand at the moment, she is unlikely to pay back the total amount so there is no advantage to only taking half of the money available to her).0 -

If she has extra needs she should be able to claim extra funding in form of a loan, but there are rules about not claiming certain benefits and student loans at the same time I believe
People have been interviewed under caution by the DWP for claiming benefits and student loans at the same time0
