Orange and a grandparent, help required

But you don't even know that the text was from Orange!
Looking at her phone she had numerous texts from Orange sayings things such as mobile charges have changed, please visit www.orange......... for more details. Im fairly sure that my nanna doesn't have a friend called Orange who is sending these two her and why would a third party send a text to her advising her that call charges have changed? In any case, Orange has to be my first point of contact, even if it wasn't them.0 -
orange do send out texts like that to inform you of changes but not the free camera phone oneYes Your Dukeiness0

Does it say orange.co.uk as the address or orange(some other word).co.uk/.com. If its the latter its likely not to be orange because any company could set up a site with the word orange in and sell orange phones.0 -

Back to the original topic at hand timberflake its not a nice thing is it my nana was plagued by these such calls.
Go to :
http://www1.orange.co.uk/mobilecontactus/
It may be a 3rd party and as others have said google it to see if any issues are brought up.
should give you all the contact details , as a matter of course i would also ring up or contact age concern over this too im sure they would like to know of such practices and give you help as well:
http://www.ageconcern.org.uk/AgeConcern/local.asp
ofcom codes may be worth a look
http://www.ofcom.org.uk/advice/codes/
and dont forget timberflake harrasement is against the law and can be prosecuted too :
http://www.opsi.gov.uk/acts/acts1997/1997040.htm
and those sites mentioned above by dmg and Jada are good too.
good luck
Woa there!
As i recall, the OP accused them of trying to lock her Nanna into a contract. The OP needs to make their mind up whether her Nanna is vulnerable:( or not vulnerable.Either she thinks she is vulnerable enough to get locked into a contract,or she thinks she is "not stupid enough to fall for this". I think there is a difference between treating someone like a child and protecting them, and by the initial post the OP said she thought she would fall for this.Which is why i used the term i did.
As already said, their call does not constitute harrassment.0 -
if she is been constantly hounded and they realise that the op's grandmother does not want such a service they yes they are harrasing her full stop.0

 ..........................if..
this is all getting rather silly..good luck0 -
the op doesn't seem to want to heed any advice as rheetstein has already said, this does not sound like orange at all. what is the point in complaining to them when they can't and won't know who's rung her nana? orange do not send out "free camera phone" texts. and they don't tend to cold call customers. also, they would know what the lady spends each month and would not have to ask her. it's a reseller and they're ruthless.
It is better to be thought of as an idiot than to open your mouth and remove all doubt

Ok, lets see for arguments sake you're right and it is a 3rd party, how do I trace who it was and stop them? I won't accept "it can't be done".0 -

i don't know how you'd trace a call thats been and gone. they are greedy b******* though, so get your nanna to tell them it's your phone and it sounds like a great deal, let me check with her and ring you back. once you've got the number you can ring up and complain. there are loads of companies who pass themselves off as orange. it's a pain i know. i've worked in mobiles for about 5 yrs, but i've never known orange send out these texts. and if they call you they always ask you to verify two didgets of your password. It is better to be thought of as an idiot than to open your mouth and remove all doubt
