Halifax bank account sort code errors

Our new Barclays current account sort code has no physical branch address, but wife's payroll seem to be able to use it ok.

What I understand of how my employers payroll works is that, when the sort code is entered it searches for a manually branch, if it cannot locate the branch it simply states the bank does not exist.


I work for a government organisation and it's a complete shambles :rotfl:


Hopefully they can override the sort code, which will resolve this situation.
