Me too. I can see how a person could have 3 or 4 Regular Saver accounts, maybe as many as 6... But how do you get to double figures with the various restrictions on opening them?

But for most, the restriction is how much you can pay in, or how many you can have with that provider at one time. Aside from that, if you have the spare money, you can have as many as you like with different providers.

As sole accounts (not including OHs or joints) you can have between 10 &12 live at one time with one particular provider, so I don't know why anyone would be incredulous or even surprised.

Also, 30% have more than 10? Yet the media has us believe people have no money...

Although - and I know this is a broad generalisation - I suspect many of the people who have no money don't regularly frequent the savings and investments board on MSE.

I assumed that all providers had a maximum of one RS account, with the possibility of one for each partner, and a joint one.

Which provider allows 10 or more? I like the idea of having 6 or 12 overall because that will both smooth out the cashflow and offset the "halving" effect of the interest rates.

mine tend to expire one month after another one.
which works quite well, as would having them all together.

Less research time once a year.
A little spread means you can grab or wait for offers

Only two at the moment, but it has been 4 or 5 in the last couple of years, or 8 or 10 around 20 to 15 years ago

I thought there aren't as many as there used to be, so some answers above surprise me

My statement could have been a little misleading. A more accurate way to put it would be '..is possible to end up with between 10 & 12 at one time..'.

    Thanks.

I was just going over the original thread list again, and see that Virgin, Halifax and Yorkshire BS all have RS accounts that aren't tied to other accounts or local address requirements. (Also Kent Reliance, but I already have one of those).

Seems like my 6 accounts are but a click away... :)

edit: I see the Virgin Account requires opening at one of their "stores".
