Sony Cashback Questions

Hello,

I am considering buying a new Sony camera on the basis that they offer a £200 cashback. The deal runs from July 2nd until Sept 2nd (inclusive). The terms and conditions say you cannot claim until at least 30days after purchase and I'm confused because 30 days from today will be after the deal ends... Or am I being a bit dim here? Also, does anyone have any experience in dealing with Sony and their cashback process? Thanks

as long as you order within the promo period you are OK.
the 30 day is to make sure no one buys it then returns it and keeps the cashback

Check whether the offer is only open to purchases made from authorised resellers as this is quite a common restriction on these offers.

My Dad has had cashback from Sony before and didn't seem to have any issues.

As above, those dates are just the promotion period/qualifying purchases period. The redemption period is longer.

The full T&C's of the offer state this:
    10. All claim forms submitted in respect of the Cashback Promotion must be received by midnight
(CET) on November 2nd 2018. No claims will be accepted after this date.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride

Thanks All. Looks like I'm getting a new Camera. Its from Jessops and they are an authorised reseller
  • I did bought a Sony A6000 at the end of August. I was concerned about the 30 day period so I sent and email to Sony. They reassured me that I would be able to claim and that I would have until 2 November to do so. I submitted the claim on 8th Oct. This week I received an email saying that my claim was not longer valid as I had not provided the proof required. This is a mystery to me as I completed the form as requested with all the evidence required. I have since tried to submit another claim but the form online has been set up for the latest cashback offer! Having done some research there are many people with similar problems. Is this a scam?

Why would it be a scam ??
Usual reasons for failed promo claim is user not complying with what is required .

No not a scam, just user error I would say.
