Spanner in the works

Bit of an update we have been told to make appointment to go in to solicitors to sign contracts.
But environmental search has come back contamination report risk. The house we are buying is near petrol station we are not going to sell it in the future as have no intention of moving again after this purchase.
Trouble is could we even be moving at all as this looks like the move is dead spanner thrown in the works.
Am worried now as it feels like months of time have been wasted for nothing.

I have had a previous environmental report come back to say there was a petrol depot nearby (it was a petrol station). It caused me no issues in buying and subsequently selling. It was about quarter of a mile away. If you are next door then that may cause slightly more issue as any contamination risk would be higher.

Is this causing a mortgage issue?

Has anyone suggested this is a "spanner in the works" or are you catastrophising? I presume this is simply a desktop report pointing out there's a petrol station nearby, rather than confirmation of any actual contamination?

Just says risk of contamination, but if there was an issue then why are they asking us to make appointment to sign contract? I am confused.
But surely houses sell next door to a petrol station, there are lots next door to one.

No mortgage was offered over month ago, everything fine on that point. Valuation passed fine for the amount we required surely then they should have said o hang on is next door to a petrol station.

But If bank takes away mortgage from us because of this issue, what can we do?

That is highly unlikely from the information you have provided.

You are at signing contracts stage, surely the mortgage is sorted now you just need to sign the contracts.

Yeh that's what I thought, said something on the email they send letter to lender to advise of environmental search findings could be standard practice?
I mean how would anyone be able to live or buy or sell next to a petrol station if it was a major issue?
Thousands live next to petrol stations
