Watched episode 2. Have you noticed that the majority of the prog focusses on Mrs Highlights or the young couple. The man who is flogging himself silly in the farmyard hardly gets shown. Very annoying when Mrs H and her family went ski-ing last night; I cannot understand how he can be a landscaper when he shows such little interest in the whole thing. And as for the tomato plants... and the money for the hair do - they just do not seem to get it but then maybe them being so annoying to the viewers is what is intended?!
Also bugs me when the women start whingeing about housework, cooking etc. If they got themselves and their offspring a bit more organised then they could help outside as well if they really wanted to (doubtful).
Would have loved to have been able to do this show - just wonder how this lot got involved in the first place.0 -
The one thing that disappointed me this time was the young girl getting into a strop because her husband was making her wash up. I've never owned a dishwasher in my life. Woudn't know how to use one if I did. (Although I'd no doubt soon find out.) How can people treat these things as such essentials?
I'm sorry, but I'm the same with washing machines. You get the "I have to have a washing machine I have children/babies". Well, so did our grannies (see other thread).
These things are not that essential. Convenient, yes. Essential? Looks like the end...
"ITV chiefs are ditching two shows after their second worse week ever for ratings. Fat Families and The Real Good Life have been pulled..........." A Source said: " The outstanding shows may eventually be shown but the priority is prime time schedules"
As in The Sun Thursday 9 June 200524 hours in a day. 24 beers in a case ... coincidence? :beer:0 -

oh. I'm quite disappointed really - would have like to know how the young couple did...
maybe they will bring it back with improvements - might email ITV (hurray for procrastination!) and say I'd be much more interested if there were actually some practical tips rather than all the ridiculous sensationalism - even better, would love them to do a programme on the alternative technology place in Wales.I've made my debts bite-size too depressing to look at all at once so am handling them one at a time - first up Graduate Loan £1720 paid off! only £280 to go!!!
Money to raise for tuition fees: £3000

That's a bit of a swizz.....rescheduled till the end of july, on sundays?0

They have replaced it with REPEATED Dennis Norden out-take show - what a load of CR*P!!!
I feel cheated. I do not call that prime time viewing. How do I e-mail ITV?????0 -
The lady with the hairdo posts on the downsizer site if anyone is interested. She has just joined. She says they rear pigs so that they can eat meat which they know has been well treated. Funny the program makers didnt even mention that little snippet which I think is quite interesting .I thought they looked like they had a better idea how to feed the pigs. The other family were heating up chips!
I thought the young couple were very enthusiastic but wondered how they would manage after having such a huge income.
One thing that I was suprised about was the women's attitude to the hard graft. It should have been a team effort all round and would have been much easier if it had been.
The good life was about a childless couple who had paid their mortgage and just needed to support themselves and so was vaguely believable.I would be very suprised if any of these families could carry on with the project without returning to some sort of paid work considering the mortgage, power, water and coucil tax all have to come from somewhere.
I shall continue to watch it on Sundays though as Im a nosey so and so:p0 -
I was wondering where this had gone! I enjoyed the first episode, even though some of them were intensely irritating when they were visiting the commune in Wales. I would have liked to see how they all got on though. I will look out for it in July. I'm not as busy on Sundays either so I might get a chance to see it.Sealed Pot Challenge #8 £341.90

I was wondering where it had gone too. So now I guess from this thread its been moved to Sundays, but when does it start up again? Not until July?? If so what date, does anyone know? I looked on the ITV website but couldn't find any details.
