How to use up the remaining 5% AMEX cashback?

Options
So, a bit of an odd question. I have the promo cashback with AMEX running until the 2nd of September.

While I've been able to use the card pretty good on getting cashback on a tumble dryer, freezer, washing machine and the usual shopping, I've "only" spent about 1800 since I took it out, and feel sorry to "waste" the last 200 xD

I don't want to buy stuff just for the sake of it, as I don't need anything at the moment.

Does anyone have any ideas? Ideally I'd like to use it as an "add funds" scenario somewhere where I'll spend it eventually, like eBay, or supermarkets, but not sure if it's possible, and I've heard that buying gift cards incurs a cash advance fee, so I obviously don't want that!

Thanks for all the help!

Do you have children - my DD's ParentPay account takes Amex.

Amazon vouchers? It's not cash so will be treated as a purchase.

No children. Amazon vouchers could be used as a last resort, as I don't use Amazon often, but if it's without a cash fee, then that would work. Do you know how long they are valid for?

And also, if I get a 200 voucher for example, can I only use it with a spend of 200 or more, or can I just use it all the time until I empty it?

    Thanks for the replies!

Not sure how long they're valid for but it should be easy enough to find out. You don't have to spend it all at once and can keep track of your balance on the website.
  • Gift cards are applied to your Amazon Account and can be used to count towards any spend.

They are valid for 10 years following redemption

10 years is good enough, even with my frugal spending, thanks for the info!

You could get a head start on stocking up for xmas, particularly when many stores have the 25% six bottles of wine offer going on.
(Although I could be wrong, I often am.)

Topping up your amazon account would be the best option.
Worked for me with no probs.

Most places you spend money do gift cards. Of the supermarkets - Waitrose, ASDA, Tesco, Sainsburys, M&S certainly do, not sure about Morrisons. Supermarkets often sell gift cards for a range of restaurants.

You can also buy a multi-store gift card. One4all is available at the post office, no fee, and is valid in a large number of high street shops:

Edit: And just to confirm, gift card purchases in store are treated as a sale rather than cash advance (I've done this at most of the stores listed above myself)
