Basically I want to know should I keep sourcing and providing my own parts at cheapest price or should I let the garages supply.
Let the garages supply. If you get the wrong part you end up paying twice for the labour, once for the attempt to fit the wrong part, once to fit the right part and you may not be able to get a refund for the wrong part once its been attempted to fit it. If you get a part and it fails you're paying the garage to remove the faulty one then replace it whereas the garage would be liable for the whole cost of replacing the faulty part.
I only buy my own parts for the parts I'm going to replace with my own two hands. Anything I send it in to the garage for I let them supply and fit.

I had a duff timing belt from Andrew Page. It was past its shelf life (8 years for Gates). I got a refund on it and told them they shouldn't be selling it but it just went back into stock.
Well here in london, Andrew page is located in croydon it seems wherease eurocarparts is more prominent locally so I imagine most garages here use them.
Does Andrew Page use quality parts or are they another poor quality part shop like eurocarparts?
