how long should you expect to wait for a response to an offer?

Myself and my partner put in an offer on a Saturday afternoon, we received a counter-offer about half an hour later which we agreed, and the offer was then accepted! It all happened in the space of an hour. We're first time buyers so we weren't sure how long it would take. The vendors estate agents is an online service, which may have helped us get our offer accepted so quickly. Good luck with yours

From what I've read/gathered, a week seems to be an acceptable amount of time (depending on the individual circumstances, of course). It took less than 24 hours for my first offer to get rejected and approx 3 days for the new counter offer...to be rejected as well!! So I guess it all depends. I would not sit around and wait for more than a week though!0

The house has gone to a closing date... there has been 5 notes of interest..
We will up our offer I think, I do wonder how many people have extra disposable money, that’s again trying to answer how longs a piece of string!
