Hi
I have read the newbies thread (found it, thank you). I received PCN (1st, 2nd and 3rd) but all arrived while I was away. I have been away for 3 months so only just picked all these up. Given the time lapse do you still recommend doing the online appeal as 1st step? Issue date was 31/5 and PCNs and reminders are dated 31/5, 29/6 and 30/7. Thanks

If it's Sainsbury's, go hard on the complaint to the Store Manager.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Indeed. Landowner cancellation will be the easiest resolution.0

Ok thanks, it is Sainsbury’s. So you suggest doing own written complaint direct to store basically saying I’m a customer of theirs and shouldn’t be charged, have been away etc? Thanks0

No.
A personal, polite but assertive complaint to the Store Manager, waving the offending paperwork around at the CS desk, and not taking the word of the person on the CS desk. Not speaking to a Duty manager either, unless they know the method to cancel it.
Go dressed as you would for an interview. Not joking, no shorts & tshirt.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Ok, thanks. I’ll give it a try. Am I speaking as keeper of car and not identifying driver?0

of course , there is absolutley no need to talk about who was driving
you are spealing as the aggrieved person who received the pcn and also as a loyal customer of the shop too
in theory, they do not want to lose YOUR business , retailers are finding it hard enough to maintain their customer base withoit alienating them with excessive parking charges !!0 -
Yes, say 'we' are horrified and 'we' are regular shoppers (or we were...).PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

You are super quick and your advice is clear. I’m very grateful! I’ll let you know how I get on.0

Ok. So I went in to Sainsbury’s as suggested. They basically said tough! They wanted proof of spending there which I don’t have. Photos show car was there for 3.5 hrs but really don’t know whether we left and came back in that time. That is quite possible as lots of other shops across the road from there. What do you suggest? All letters have arrived while I’ve been away so no chance of doing anything about this earlier. What happens if I just ignore these letters and do nothing? Or alternatively should I just write and pay £40 charge (which is initial charge if dealt with in 1st 2 weeks) and provide proof I was out of the country for 3 months? Sainsbury’s being v unhelpful. There is a Homebase there too that uses the same car park I believe.0
