New alloys - Affecting insurance/warranty?

Why fit new alloys to your car? Unless you want smaller alloys with narrower tyres and perhaps thicker sidewalls for better comfort and marginally improved fuel consumption?

In my RX8 PZ, I have lightweight OZ alloys, not only reducing weight but helps handling. In a FWD car like the A3 it would be pointless doing this modification

I'm considering new alloys simply because it'll work out cheaper than getting the same ones that are damaged now either refurbished on eBay or through Audi themselves

When I bought my car it had different alloys fitted by the garage as it was one of their demo vehicles and they wanted to tart it up a bit.
I told my insurers about this and they made a note on the declared modifications section of my policy but the premium didn't change at all.

I've just contacted my insurance and they've said new alloys will be absolutely fine and covered by my insurance as standard. They'd only be charging extra if they were gold-plated :)

Why not just get the existing alloys refurbished - power coated? You can get it done for around £200 and they can fix buckled wheels too. Far better than having a claim on your insurance that will only increase your premiums!!

Will a repair actually work if they are so severely damaged? It's not something I've had done before so I'm not 100% clued up on this sort of thing?

I'm going to get it on a ramp over the next few days and get some second opinions on the damage before I make a decision :)

It's something only a specialist wheel co. can advise on. And that is not ATS, Kwik-Bodge, or Halfrauds.

Mate all you really need to do is buy some used ones in good condition (same as the ones you already have) from fleebay there are lots on there

its unlikely that you have bent the chassis etc... and more likely damaged the wishbone or, and driveshaft you wont know properly untill it has been inspected thoroughly and not just a quick look

hopefully you get it sorted at a reasonable cost, let us know how you get on

what trim level is it ie: sline, se, black edition etc... as parts do vary in price from one to the other especially wheels
People are caught up in an egotistic artificial rat race to display a false image to society. We want the biggest house, fanciest car, and we don't mind paying the sky high mortgage to put up that show. We sacrifice our biggest assets our health and time, We feel happy when we see people look up to us and see how successful we are”

It's a matter of darkness whether you should listen to what "Gina" says. He buys much smaller wheels that are about 1/4 an inch, say. They have scalextric written on the box in his case.

You need to use Audi parts and a VAT registered garage to ensure you do not invalidate th manufacturer's warranty.

If it is not an Audi garage then you need an invoice stating genuine Audi parts were used.

I'm watching one or two alloys the same as mine on eBay but they're asking for silly money when a set of four new ones is cheaper than just one they're asking for.

I've got the car in for inspection in a local VW/Audi Specialist today so hopefully I'll know later on what the verdict is and get a few quotes around.

Mine is an S-line black edition. So I guess this is when it will cost silly money for repairs :o
