Ending 12m contract with Orange (via OSPS)

My 12 months contract with Orange (bought through OSPS) is about to end, and I just realised it is not that simple to save my number, get outstanding cashback and not to pay much extra money at the same time. Need an advice as I used to be a PAYG user before and this is my first contract.

Here are some details:
  • Contract: 12 months Orange £25 per month
  • Connection date: 31 November 2006
  • Cashback offer: 12 months free (cashback redeemed in 4 stages)
  • The 4th cashback portion to be claimed after 1st of December (got it from OSPS Cashback Calculator while it was working) - bill not older than 28 days required
  • Bill normally comes on the 5th day of the month
  • Number transfer process: abt 2 weeks
  • Orange say they will charge me £25/30 for every extra day after 12 months time and the contract will not end automatically (I need to give them a 30 days notice)
From my understanding, I need to give them the notice ASAP, then, in two weeks, request PAC and move it to a PAYG SIM for the time being (have spare one from t-mobile). But I wonder what will come from Orange on 5th of December .. a bit of maths here ... PAC request e.g. 15/11 ..phone disconnected between 22/11 and 29/11 ..Orange prints the bill on 01/12 - no number on the invoice or no invoice (?) -> nothing to send to OSPS, no cashback ..

Am I missing anything here ?

Thanks for any advice !

just convert the contract to Orange PAYG on the final day of your contract, why bother porting if you are putting it to a temporary card that you just have hanging around? At worst you'll get a 13th bill covering those few extra days at the start of December whilst it converts to PAYG. YOU should probably ring them now with the fact you want to do this, they then get ready to send you your new PAYG SIM(free) to arrive on the day that your contract ends after the 30 days notice. Then you have the bill with your details correct, a PAYG SIM with your number stored safely to port at your lesiure
  • I am thinking of getting another cashback contract with Orange, doubt that is possible to port from an Orange PAYG to Orange contract

Thanks for the hint, ordered a free £5 Virgin SIM though for the reason above ..
