Urgent advice needed re:3 contract!

Hi,some advice needed,i'll be as brief as possible!

My contract was due to end with 3 today,2-11-07. I gave a months notice of my intention to leave,citing the fact that my sony ericsson k610i kept dropping calls,therefore it was unreliable particularly as I needed the phone for my work(I am a driving instructor). The contract was 500 mins/100 texts,18 months duration,£30 per month. I got the usual "we value your custom having been with us for 3 years" rubbish,and they offered me a new 12 month deal a £15 per month for 500 mins/100 texts and a nokia 6120,which they assured me was a better quality phone than the k610i and would not drop my business calls. I agreed to the deal and they sent me the handset early as a goodwill gesture,said that my £30 per month deal would run until 2-11-07 and then my £15 per month deal would start,and run for the next 12 months. The nokia 6120 began to drop calls just as frequently as the k610i had done,and I phoned 3 to make them aware of this. They admitted that there was a software fault on the phone,that they were in negotiations with nokia to resolve the problem,although they couldn't give a date by which the problem would be resolved! I wasn't happy about the situation,but agreed to let 3 try to sort the problem out.

Now we come to today,2-11-07. My phone would not make or receive calls,there was no signal strength and a message on the phone which said "sim card registration failure". I phoned 3,who confirmed that the contract had been cancelled today as it was the 2nd November! I informed them of the renewal offer from the retentions dept,which they seemed to know little about! They said that the line had been disconnected,and that they would try to reconnect it but it would take at least FOUR days!!!!!!!!!! I told them that I found this unacceptable,and that I had lost the use of my mobile and was unable to make receive business calls as a result,plus my parents,who are both ill,wouldn't have been able to get in touch with me if they had needed to. 3 promised to pass on the problem to the relevant manager,who would phone me back within an hour. Three times today after myself contacting 3 this happened,and 3 times the manager failed to call back.

I have threatened to send the phone back to 3,as in my opinion they have failed to honour their part of the contract,and the person on the other end of the phone tonight agreed that if they were in my position then they would do exactly the same thing! I feel that I have a case for telling three where to stick their phone and their contract. Any suggestions or opinions as to what to do next folks?

    go back to the shop you bought your phone from and ask them to sort it out. three are useless at customer service

    That's no use to me i'm afraid,as I got the phone from 3 direct. I am writing a letter of complaint to the 3 head office in glasgow. I will let you know what they say in their reply!

    Would it not be worth trying a 3 shop,telling them of your plight,and asking them if they could sort it out for you?

    After all,they are part of the same company.
