Forgotten lock pattern Samsung

Wonder if anyone can help please. I have a Samsung galaxy 7 and have forgotten the lock pattern.
I have nothing set up on the phone and have looked at tutorials on Youtube etc which says to hold down the power and volume buttons but when I do this I just get the Samsung screen.
Other instructions say to power off first, but it won't turn off.
Am driving myself mad so if anyone has any ideas I'd be really grateful. Thanks.

Thanks, but I don't get that screen or option. Appreciate your replying though.0

The power and volume buttons reset does have to be done with the phone off.
All you need to do it wait, if you can't switch it off. The battery will run down, it'll switch itself off then you can attach the charger and do the reset. . .0 -

What do you get then? Can you include a picture if possible? (not a screen grab obviously )
Edit: There are 9 different methods in the following although I presume Method 3 is for a paid app. Some of the rest require you to have already completed various steps before it last locked such as turning on USB debug mode:

Thank you both, will take a look later. I bought the phone second hand so not sure if that makes any difference, as assuming it was reset before being sold.
Also I didn't get a chance to set anything up on the phone before I lost my memory!!0
