The DFW book club..

Hi all, I've jist joined a local book club and wondered whether anyone would be interested in a DFW book club discussion thread? I know there was a thread a while ago on book swaps but it was a no go due to exchanging addresses etc so thought it may be good to have a DFW online one as a way to encourage us to broaden our minds while not spending money?
The book we are reading at the moment is Northern Lights by Phillip Pullman (soon to come out on film but cant remember the name...golden compass I think!). I just wondered if anyone would be interested in joining an online discussion with "members" choosing a book. Any thoughts? May be a naff idea but worth a try? ie a book month to be selected in advance (so we have time to get to the library or buy on green metropolis etc!!) ....Re the book we are reading now its not one I've ever heard of but am actually loving it and have ordered the next two from the library so has taken me out of my comfort zone but pleased it did!

List of books chosen:

November 2007 - Northern Lights by Phillip Pullman (ISBN: 0-590-66054-3) (chosen by fishface-69 because I'm doing it for my real life book club & am loving it so thought I'd share the joy of finding a new author with you lot!!)

  • You carry on! enjoy your wine.

I wasn't keen on Northern Lights when I read it but everything falls into place when you read the other 2.

Think I'll have to re-read it again now!

I shall go to the library tomorrow and see if I can find it. I'm currently reading Duncan Bannatyne's (Dragons Den bloke) 'Anyone Can Do It', being a DFW I thought if anyone can be a millionaire and he's happy to tell me how then I'm all for it :D

I'm in :D Love reading, love that trilogy. Silly Americans renaming the film! Bit worried about the film but very keen to see it, just hope not too many of the religious connotations are cut.

I don't think any of us have been lately! The man is history... He went weird and I really couldn't be bothered to find out what is issue was so we split up. It's all good tho :) I'm currently entertaining thoughts about younger men...
