  • I think the EA might have issues calling a mobile abroad as they'd get lumbered with the call charges.

If you ask them to contact you by email are you going to be constantly looking at your emails for an update thus ruining the holiday?

Could you ask a relative to act as a point of contact who has authority to increase any offers up to an agreed amount on your behalf?

Otherwise just offer your maximum amount & if you're outbid then you know it wasn't to be

    And
@robathawk why do you suggest i dont tell them am going abroad?
    Thanks

    They may tell the seller.
Seller may think you're not serious.
But really - why would you bother. You can do all your negotiation via phone and other than a different ringtone they won't know. They won't pay more. You won't either if you're in the EU.

Don't even worry about telling them, they're estate agents, they can absorb the cost of the call if it matters.

I did all my negotiations on a buisness trip to Norway! Went and saw the house on the Saturday, partner made the offer when I was at Schipol, and did the negotiations at the clients site.

No, they phone the UK number - and get charged the UK call rate.

The recipient - the OP - pays the international element of the call, since it's outside the EU. How much that will be depends on their package, but there'll almost certainly be an add-on they can get from their phone provider which will reduce the cost.

Its not "a call abroad" because they will be calling you on a UK number, and will pay UK ratesthe same as if you were stood outside their offices. The fact the call gets transferred to turkey is not visible to them, and the extra cost from UK to Turkey is on your phone bill, not theirs.

They will not get charged for the foreign portion. The whole principle of the system is that the person who calls is only charged based on the phone number they call, not its location because otherwise you could rack up exhorbitant charges and be unaware of that.

Its the recipient, who may be in Australia or wherever, who pays the additional cost of the leg from the home country to wherever they have gone.

You can call Fred on his Tesco mobile in Blackpool, Belgrade or Brisbane and it will cost you the same. Fred may pay more for the latter two depending on his mobile plan.

Why don't you just put in your max offer?

If a house is perfect for you, then offer what you are prepared to pay and see what happens.

In this situation if you feel that you going away is to your detriment and you really want it, then I personally wouldn't muck about.

I don't think your travel plans make any difference to be honest.

Just give the EA the dates, ask the EA to email you if they need anything during that time, and say you will check your email once a day.

If the EA wants to speak you can call them back at a time that suits you.

Would contactable by email be okay? As i dont think the estate agent would call on my mobile..
And about the offer better to make my max before i go?

Why on earth not? you'll be paying the roaming charges, not him. And his commission is the priority-he wants a sale, he's not bothered about an extra £3K up or down.
