Just checking in to update the debts list for payments that have gone out.
Things are ticking along at the minute. I'm just trying to get Christmas boxed off and trying to keep a lid on spending in case DH finds himself out of work with little to no notice.
I'm expecting a tax credit overpayment letter.. I'm really hoping that I can pay it in monthly installments as I won't be able to pay it off in one go...Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,

And DH has been told today that he is out of a job on Friday... woohooo - just what we need.
I am thoroughly fed up, I would add a million swear words to my post to express just how upset, annoyed, fuming I am, but the filter won't let me so no point.
I haven't even put the kids to bed yet. I actually feel completely deflated and depressed. I knew there was no chance life would allow us to 'get ahead' but again, just tread water. We just got up to date with all bills and 'started' to get a little teeny bit of money in the bank towards future plans, and BANG - nope... we can't do that. Why in the world would we be allowed to do that?
If anyone so much as looks at me in the wrong way tomorrow in work I will flip.Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,

I've avoided coming on here as I'm not in the right frame of mind to try and be positive. The last thing people want to read is my moaning and whining. I'm not sure Dh is going to get any work over Christmas, as A) a lot of work dies down this time of year and
He doesn't seem to be in the right frame of mind. He is pretty sure he has work from January, but that doesn't really help us out now.
Even if he doesn't get work, I think we will get by, but we will end up using our small amount of savings that I was putting by for a new washing machine and the new pup. So we are basically going to be back to square one - as usual. It just makes me wonder what the point of trying is.
I want to be positive. I want to pick myself up.
I should just be grateful that we are in a position that we can 'get by' with the loss of an income for a month.
There are so many things I want to do and I have a stressful month myself. I am wrapping up at my current job (2wks left) and then I will also have a 2wk loss of income. I will also have a ton of work to do before starting my new job. I'm excited and nervous....
There is no way I am NOT having a holiday next year. I'm just going to book something closer to the time though... But i need to get saving... I NEED to get debt paid off.... I need to get a new pup lol.
Maybe I am over ambitious.Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,

I'm sorry about your husband's job RedMel, I missed that update.
Please don't stop posting; I promise we don't mind if you need to vent and it's probably better to get it off your chest here than elsewhere. I'm sure we've all been at the point where we'd just started making progress and them sh*t happens to screw it all up.
If you've a load of stuff to do before starting your new job, can your DH take some of the pressure off if he's not working?
When you're ready to confront it, remember that square one is still better than where you were at the start of this year! Do you think there's still a chance you can get that £78.08 paid off? Get DH selling bits on eBay/FB etc - that might just be enough to help you get motivated again.0 -
That is tough Mel
. But if you didn't have those savings you'd be in a much worse position, so give yourself credit for moving ahead so far this year. You've paid s chunk off the debt, and you're able to weather a gap in income which is more than many households could do at the moment.
Any way DH can pick up done seasonal cover work over Xmas through an agency? Might be worth having a look just in case. Even if it isn't his usual wage it is something.
I hope things pick up for you soon, you absolutely have the skills to get through this.0 -
Thanks everyone.
I've been so busy lately I haven't had a chance to get on here to update.
Thankfully Dh has work now until Friday 21st, which is perfect. He will be missing 2 days pay, but that is nothing in the scheme of things.
I've pretty much finished Christmas shopping. I just need to get wrapped and hampers put together.
I only have 3 days left in my current job (Tues/Weds/Thurs) and I'm pretty nervous about moving jobs really. I'm sure I will settle in, but it's still scary.
It's a good job dh got these extra weeks in work as our washing machine has died. I need to order one asap; thankfully I have enough money in our emergency fund to cover this expense.
I also had some great news about my wages and it is now apparent that i won't lose the two weeks that I thought I would. My contract ends on 31st Dec with my current place and my new contract starts on 1st JanPretty good news right there.
Plan for the rest of Dec.
* Finalise Christmas shopping/wrapping/food
* Buy new clothes for new job -
it is slightly more formal than my current place, so need something a bit smarter than my current cardi/trs combo.
* Order a washing machine
* Pay off that £78 extra from debts.
* Keep up with YNAB and request an extension so I can get dh set up and get him used to using it too.Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,

Sounds good, particularly about your not-missing pay and OH's job!
If you don't mind second hand, I'm seeing loads of blazer style jackets in the charity shops at the minute. And of course we've the sales coming up - or already started in a lot of places!0 -
The washing machine arrived yesterday and seems decent enough. I'm no washing machine enthusiast, so wouldn't really have a clue if it is or isn't lol. As long as it washes the clothes without sounding like a jet engine, or tripping the electric, then I'm happy
I have just had a great email saying we are all allowed to go home early on Wednesday. I'll actually be home to collect the kids from school, so can tell FIL he won't need to do any pick ups this week.
I've updated the debts list to reflect a few payments, but I'm holding off on the overpayments until I get paid at the end of this week. Once I know bills are covered for January, I will decide what to pay off - if anything.Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,

Great news about DH's job and your pay. If you can get through the next month I'm sure things will ease up
