Eurgh, DS1 told me last night that he has had a bump on his bike. He was completely at fault as he went into the back of someone's car. He is only on a 125 motorbike and it was from a stationary position at a roundabout (the classic, he thought they had gone, but they had stopped, situation). Anyway, they have left him a voicemail saying the paintwork will cost £250 to repair, so we now have to decide whether to pay the £250 outside of the insurance, or tell her to go ahead with an insurance claim. He hasn't any no claims discounts as he has only been driving for 2mths. I think I will do a quote with all his details citing an 'at fault' claim and see how much it is coming back as. If the increase isn't too much then the best bet will be to go through the insurance.
I've had to phone work today to say I won't be in. DS3 has been up half the night being sick, so I'll have to keep him off school. He says he is feeling ok this morning, but he is very tired. School policy is 48hrs from last sickness, so I've no choice even if he was jumping around the house. I desperately need to do some shopping, so I might drag him to Aldi with me later, well, as long as he is fine all morning.

Hope your little one is feeling better. They definitely know how to time things well - on the plus side perhaps you can take the opportunity to chill out with him today.
Like GlendaSugar says, i add my transactions and then use the 'C' to show as they clear my bank a few days later. It's a good way to see what you actually have in your bank - and no nasty surprises lol.
I'm a little confused with the monthly payments/goals myself. I have some i have updated but next month they show i need to budget twice as much to keep on track?? Think i may need to see if there is a way of showing these as cleared too maybe? Who knew being organised would be so tricky to get your head around?Total Debt November 2018: £23, 7950 -

Interesting.
I have used the monthly funding on all of my regular outgoings and the monthly regular debt repayments. Tis is only my first month though and as I have started halfway though the month, I have not yet funded any twice.
I have started to fund next month's regular outgoings.
When inputting a transaction, I clear it immediately. I only ever look at amount available in my bank anyway, so as long as that matches the total working balance I think I am ok. From what I can tell anyway, but feel free to discuss.Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,

Had a bit of a weekend fail with watching the pennies. (I'm going to admit may failings on here as well as my successes).
Friday we went out to our local and had a few drinks, which was fine. We spent about £20 which is not much more than we might normally spend, but then DH insisted on a pizza on the way home, so he went to Papa Johns and bought a huge pizza for £12, so that night ended up £32. Then last night we were invited out by two friends for a 'proper' night out. We went out at 7pm and didn't get in until 3am. I don't know how much we spent, but given the taxi home was £20, the round of cocktails we bought was £20, the round of shots we bought was £30, and the entry to a nightclub was £18.. on top of that we had many many many many many other drinks.... I am guessing in the region of £150 :mad:. I am annoyed as although it was a nice night and something we haven't done since our eldest was born 18yrs ago... it is not really my scene, I actually prefer quiet drinks in our local (far far far cheaper too) I know for sure that I won't be going out there again, well maybe in another 18yrs :rotfl:
I need to try and get the spends into YNAB. I think the easiest thing to do will be to just see how much the discrepancy is between my bank available balance and YNAB working balance. and count all of that as the amount we have spent last night. The transactions won't show in the bank for a few days, so I will double check the actual figure then. I'm sure it will work out pretty accurate though as we haven't spent on anything else.
Here's to only planned spending for a few weeks!!!
EDIT: Having added up our spends for the whole weekend splurge, it is a grand total of £260 which does include £58 on a jacket for DH, as he didn't have a smart coat/jacket to wear to go out, so he bought one for the occasion, therefore I am including in the weekend spends.I'm pretty torn up about the whole thing actually. It was made worse by the fact that the people we went out with have more money than us (DH's boss) and in one place they ordered a bottle of champagne for £150.... We weren't trying to keep up with them, but they weren't exactly concerned with going to the cheap bars.Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,

It took me a while to work out that the trick is to budget November's income in December. This means if you get paid on the 30th November put that transaction in for the correct date but in your budget, skip forward to December and then move it to the appropriate categories. If you get paid mid-month and need to budget it mid-month, then you won't hit the goals for December until mid December, unless you're able to double up like you say.redmel1621 wrote: »I'm pretty torn up about the whole thing actually. Don't beat yourself up; it sounds like a blowout was long overdue if it'd been 18 years! I hope you enjoyed it at the time at least :beer:0 -

I had to re read that first bit a few times before I understood it, but it makes sense to me
I suppose we enjoyed most of the night. DH was completely wasted and was refusing to go home. I had been making noises about leaving from around 12.30am. I had switched to water by this point as I was starting to feel a bit sickly, DH eventually got refused at the bar :rotfl:
I've felt rough/tender all day, but he has really been suffering today and is still feeling awful nowUnless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,

Now that I have finished being annoyed about our splurging at the weekend, I have sat down and crunched some numbers. Thankfully, due to DH's overtime hours, we are not too affected by the money we wasted.
Looking at YNAB, I have funded half the month of December's regular bills. I need to get some money into the food and electric pot and also start saving for petrol costs, as we have no idea how long DH will have the company van. I have savings towards both the new pup and a new washing machine, as well as a pot for random stuff/Xmas stuff... It is looking pretty decent, well decent for me given that I never normally have any savings or long term plans.
I have also done a few sums on the debts and after all the regular payments have come out in December we will owe £23 078. 08. My mission is to try and overpay the £78.08 so it is a nice round £23000 entering 2019.
The highest our debts stood at was £31 495.52 this means once I get it to the £23000, we will have paid off £8495 I'm pretty happy with that. I am going to set myself a target to pay off £8000 in 2019, and hopefully aim for a debt free date of December 2021.Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,

Just want to echo DD265's comments about not beating yourself up, we all make mistakes and the important thing is you are back on plan. I'm wondering if being on a budget has reduced your tolerance to alcohol a bit? When we first started I could easily down a bottle of wine in an evening. Not any more, I hardly ever drink due to the cost and when I do I just can't manage more than 2 glasses without feeling half cut. Embarassing, but also mse! Hope DH likes his coat.0

Thanks.
I'm putting it behind me. Things would be even better if both of our work paid us what we are owed. I'm still on the wrong pay grade and DH has been underpaid a full weekend. It is frustrating.Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,

Evening.
Had a good day today.
I had a nice little bonus day off, so managed to collect DH's phone from being fixed (£120) I was reluctant to fix it, but he relies on his phone quite a lot for work as has to record measurements and take before/after pics of jobs... So he could do with a better one than the one he was using/borrowing. Anyway, it's done now.
While in town, I also remembered to throw my change in the coinstar machine (it was full last time I tried) and got a voucher for £36.. I used it to get some Christmas decs, Christmas chocs, Advent calendars and the ingredients to make fajitas tonight. It felt great getting my shopping 'free'.
I also went and collected some guinea pigs that were being rehomed for freeI am completely ecstatic as they came with everything.. cage, toys, bedding, food etc.. The lady who was getting rid of them said she had paid £130 for everything. I just need to hide them for the next 25 days lol.
This evening I took DS1 to TK Maxx, as he needed to buy a shirt for his staff Christmas party and while we were there he tried a few hoodies on. He picked one out, but I have bought it and will give it him for Christmas. I m struggling for ideas for him, so better he picks something he likes/wants.
DH also bought a shirt, which I'm not entirely sure about. It wasn't exactly cheap and although there is flexibility in the budget and money available, I would have preferred not to spend a large chunk of it on a shirt.Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,
