Just get as many keys as you need for your personal requirements but make sure you give them all to the LL at the end of the tenancy. He isn't entitled to a key anyway so no cause for complaint there.


Also, don't act like a jackass to people on forums who are trying to give you correct advice.

Look up abuse in a dictionary maybe. It has a different meaning to disagreement or criticism.

You swore multiple times at someone for suggesting you were acting entitled.

Suggesting that someone is acting entitled is criticism, whether fair or unfair. If unprompted it would probably be rude but not here as you asked for opinions. It is never abusive.

OP it's always someone elses fault isn't? isn't the main issue is you didn't get hurt and nothing stolen and had to pay for new locks and keys, a small price to pay.

You got of lightly, what if you were alone and 3 men came in??

Your LL is correct and you must bear the costs of changing the locks and getting new keys, but not until the tenancy ends.

OP you might want to check forum rules, also reported your prev post. No one swore at you nor used abusive language.

Its a fair point, i think it was phrased significantly more derogatory than critical.
No mention of the "victim shaming" (i believe is the term) in asking if we're idiots for leaving unlocked windows, was obviously our fault someone broke in. Its very easy to fall into a mob mentality and blame one person, seeing as you're dishing out life lessons.

You were unlucky, I'm sure most of us have left a downstairs window or door unlocked and then gone upstairs for a bit. I know I have.

Its primarily the fault of the person who came in uninvited to steal from you, the you come in second, the landlord is not at fault at all because they weren't remotely involved!
