selling debts

Hi,
Just to clarify this for you, there is no legal time frame to inform you of the sale of a debt, the legislation you quoted from earlier is more to do with the sale of land and property, rather than a debt, although it is covered by the same legislation.
You receive a letter in the post, informing you of the sale, these companies work hand in hand, most times the letter informing you of the sale, is included in the same envelope as the welcome letter from the purchaser.
If Lowell have not yet contacted you, this could be for various reasons, they buy debts in bulk, so it can take time to contact everyone on the particular list you are on, occasionally a debt is not chased at all, it may be deemed unrecoverable for some reason, but usually its simply because they just have not got around to you yet.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. It took over 4 years for one company to contact me about sold debt. And yes I had tried to hunt it down as I was making payments via a DMP. Everyone I contacted (different companies/agencies) insisted it had been paid. Turns out it was just sold....again.0

The first letter they sent you will be a notice of assignment. As Sourcrates stated you would probably have had a letter containing both letter from Eon and Lowell about the assignment. This may have been the letter before your latest, and saying you never received it is irrelevant as it will have been sent.
They just send in normal post, its like claims letters, the court summons for the CCJ, is sent in normal post, it isn't hand delivered or sent registered post, doesn't have a wax seal or wet ink signature.0 -

“just received a letter (supposedly) from eon along with a letter from lowell (same envelope)”
That’s 2 letters.
That’s what you said in your original post - https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5884390/eon-lowell-ombudsman-update0 -
there was only one letter , i was thinking the letter had been written by lowells on eon paper as there was no eon contact number , its a hybrid letter , stating sold , but to contact lowells0

“Along with” means there were multiples0

So you had two pieces of paper in one envelope, one on eon headed notepaper and one on lowells? So you are trying to say that's one letter? Thing is they buy debts in bulk, so yes they probably print both letters and send them together in one envelope. Doesn't make it any less valid.0

I have edited my other post , there was only one letter , whilst typing (and annoyed) I also had the "welcome to your new house" letter dated oct 2011 on the table0 -
Hmmmm
You would have a letter from Lowell as well as that’s how they handle these things0
