It sounds as though the email was an error - that your price isn't going up, and you can't therefore leave for that reason.
If you have been misled about BB speeds, then that could be a reason. In what way do you think you were misled?
I was told when I renegotiated that I couldnt get the speeds I was getting elsewhere. BT say I can get upto 7.5meg BB to my address. This is what I currently get with Virgin. Im getting average 6.5mb/s 💩💩💩💩💩
Shame! I pay for 100mbps called to cancel and got 200mbps for the same price and get about 206-218mbps from a hard wired connection and about 120mbps over WiFi in the same room as the router.0 -

The measure is Mbps - megabits per second, sometime shown as Mb in advertising. Virgin use it. ie on Virgins Vivid 50 package, they say "Average download speeds of 54Mbps"
Other providers use the same measure.
7.5 MB/S does not equal 60MBPS, but 7.5MBps does equal 60 Mbps
If you're getting 60Mbps on a 200Mbps package, then yes there is a problem.It could be street level congestion which is not uncommon with VM0 -
Its the fact that I was told I couldnt get speeds anywhere else that you can get on Virgin. Thats a lie because you can. I know you cant match their higher speeds, but I was tild the speed I was on couldnt be matched, IT CAN. Not only that the service has become so unreliable its unreal. Paying for a service Im not receiving. Looks like Im stuck though unfortunately. Next price hike that affects my bill which allows me to leave or when contract is up im outta there!!!!
You cant get a 200meg service. So that is true.
You may have an issue.
Have you spoke to VM? Unless I have missed it,you are yet to confirm if you are testing on a wired connection?

As others have put all ISPs advertise their speed in bits, generally Megabits per second. Otherwise the Advertising Standards Agency (ASA) would pull them up on it.
Capital B means Bytes of which one byte is equal to eight bits and uses a small B as annotation.
So on a wired connection with no issues then you would expect to see 200Megabits per second (Mbps) or 25 Megabytes per second (MBps)
Yes it is can be confusing and even those working in IT sometimes write it wrongly.
If BT are saying online or over the phone they can do 7.5Mbps (bits a second) they shouldn't quote anything else, then that suggests that is old style ADSL. Not even BT Infinity. If however they have got confused and you can get up to 60Mbps then a Vivid 200 service working properly over a wired connection will beat it.You cant get a 200meg service. So that is true.

Vivid 200 is a 200Megabits service so not sure what you mean you can't get one. It does, as all Virgin BB services in reality run a bit faster than that and that is usually around 10% or so. The Vivid 350 service runs just north of 380Megabits. Part of the reason is to keep it above the advertised figure.
As you say the OP still needs to answer how is he connecting to the router. WiFi will realistically struggle to use up all of a 200Mbps connection for most devices.
It's the equivalent of getting a car that will do 155mph and complaining that that I am only allowed to do 70mph in this country, therefore I want my money back.0 -

The OP said VM lied when they said they (the OP) cant get the same service with other companies.

As in no one can get a 200 meg service VM don't offer that. In the context of the OP we still don't know that is the case as they could just be testing on a slow WiFi client.0
