Hi,
Newbie here , so apologies firstly if this is in the wrong forum.
I'm looking to delete and remove all traces of Facebook from my life!
I understand they will not make it easy.
I've downloaded all my data.
I wondered how to or where to contact to have all my data removed from their servers etc and also how to get away from the naughty tracking they have on any device you've ever logged into?
Please help make me FB free!
Cheers , much appreciated

Just make sure this is what you want to do, as it is indeed permanent and will not be able to recover anything after you have done this. Once your account is deleted, none of the devices you have used to log in will be able to track/monitor you using your account, but as the FB app does have significant permissions on your devices, I would ensure you uninstall the app for good measure. Check out the link to FB's help section below.

Once you have gone through the deletion process, you should be aware that they keep all your posts, data, emails etc etc on their servers just in case you ever want to resurrect your account.
It's in their terms but don't know how long they keep your records.
As above you have to remove all trace of Fb from all your devices - apps, data, everything related to Fb from everything, which may not be easy.
To be sure, I would backup all essential data - stuff which I would not want to lose - then clear all data from all browsers, including cookies, and clear all data from any app remotely associated with Fb.
In an extreme case, do the backup(s) then do a factory reset of each and every device then go through each device again and remove any Fb app which the operating system has which fires up Fb - Android puts one on for a start.
That's my own take on getting free of Fb.0 -
Change your identity, as above all your data will still be stored on their system possibly forever.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

Great!
Thanks for both the amusing and informative replies and suggestions
As is their prerogative it is near impossible to get to contact someone to demand ( as is our right) to have our deets removed etc.
Ah yeah I was hoping to avoid backup/factory reset - yet that may be me only option. Glad its the bank holiday weekend then!0 -
Have you tried to do it on Facebook?
Please explain this.
Quick online search for 'facebook tracking' will give us lots of harrowing info on the tracking , even when you're not logged in etc !
Just wanted to opt out of being part of what is turning out to be a pretty nasty company with a nice smiley likey likey surface.
It's a start!0 -
Firstly, congratulations on ditching facebook. I find ditched it, not for privacy reasons, but, because of all the misery it spreads.
When you permanently delete your account, they keep personal data for up to 3 months. After that, they delete everything, unless your account had been noted for violation of any rules.
Don't forget that anything you posted on your friends sites will remain out there....
Unfortunately, tracking etc is not the exclusive domain of FB, nearly all companies that offer a service will track you and retain information. If you have a smart phone, tablet etc. most, but not all, of the apps will be tracking some data.
You have to weigh up the balance between complete privacy and convenience. Good luck...;):)Drinking Rum before 10am makes you

No need to delete Facebook to get rid of the "naughty tracking": Get the anonymous Tor Browser and then in that browser go to https://www.facebookcorewwwi.onion/ That address will only work in the Tor browser.
All that remains is to decide whether you trust the web site because Facebook provides it. It's not provided independently.

While you're at it also get a VPN.
Re. deleting your data and data mining: Too late, Facebook already has it and deleting what you posted won't change that.0 -

Where i work in central london there is a food stall who's only web presence is facebook. While visiting this page, Facebook, under related pages section, throws up ads/recommendations for the town I currently am in - !!!!!!!0 -
@that
Data mining is like a jigsaw puzzle with pieces missing. Every time a piece is obtained that piece is added to the jigsaw puzzle to make it more and more complete. How quickly it's complete depends on where you go on the internet and whether those places share data. Cookies really don't come into it.
There are four pieces of software which are regarded as essential to protect privacy, vpn, non-tracking web browser, non-tracking search engine and anonymous email. But they have to be used all the time without exception. Forget to enable them and use a regular browser just once et voila another piece of the puzzle is created.
If facebook has your data and has related it to other data they must have got that data from somewhere and that somewhere is likely to be yourself!0
