fake speeding ticket Germany
I have received letters stating that I have breached the speed limit in Cologne Germany in August and I have not driven my car there or ever hired a car in Germany. They have my name, address (be it postcode slightly wrong) and car make and number plate. I can either fill in a form with details or if I consider that I was guilty to going over the speed limit pay 10 Euros. Now I think this is fake but it seems to come from a genuinen police station. I'm thinking I will try and contact them but i thought I ask first if you have heard from fake speeding ticket scams from Germany? I could try and find out whether the bank details are actually from the police, if they're not then it's fake, but it all depends whether I can get through to the police station. I'd rather not phone as that is costly. Who would I get in touch with in the UK? I'm baffled, can't find anything on google about a scam.

Just ignore it, German courts have no U.K. jurisdiction anyway. Pop it in the bin.0

I've found a website for this police station and way to contact them by email. I'm going to ask a german friend first and a dutch friend who works for the police. Just odd that there's nothing when you google it as I can't be the first.0

You're right, however if you ever visit Germany again the can and do pick it up on your passport and ask you 'to step this way'. It happened to a colleague of mine...............most amusingOne man's folly is another man's wife. Helen Roland (1876 - 1950)0 -
You seem to have ignored the fact that my car has never been out of the UK. It is fake. It's just that I haven't got confirmation of that, it looks fake, wish there were more examples on the internet.0

They've probably mis-read the number plate and got the wrong details from DVLA.
Up to you if you decide to challenge - but it could easily cost more than just paying it. Hopefully it'll be the only one coming through.0 -
